My brother, after several days of contemplating getting new brakes for my car @$700-$900, I decided to network with family and friends. I was directed to 63rd St Automotive. There I met Mr. Bill James. Very personal, highly professional with a down-to-earth swag. After my brother explained his dilemma, of needing new brakes at $700 - $900. He procedure to check my car. Confused he called me over to look at the car. He informed me, “You don’t need no brakes”. I informed him who gave me that estimate. He agreed this was not right. Trying to give black businesses work, it didn’t end well. Thank you, Mr. Bill James, I now have $700 in my account. It was a pleasure meeting you. Thanks to networking with family and friends
Bill's just a good guy. Took care of me, would definitely go back to him
Customer Service: Owner often addresses me using terms like “young lady”, “sweetie” and the likes. Didn’t enjoy that - condescending and unprofessional and a tad creepy. Repair Service: initial repair seemed complete. Shortly after I noticed a new noise coming from my car, took it back and was told it’s my tire. After asking again, I was told it’s my brakes. Both the pads and rotor were changed out 6 months before so I find it unlikely that was truly the issue. Not saying they were trying to take advantage but I definitely can’t say with full confidence that isn’t the case either. And now having doubts about the first job being completed. Price: real cheap. Got all my valve cover gaskets changed for less than $400 My recommendation: If you’re a woman with little to no knowledge of cars,
Bill has been my mechanic since I was 16 years old, I'm 37 now. He's such an honest man, definitely a mechanic the community can trust. He treats all of his customers with respect and is known to go out of his way to help those in need. 10+++ stars!
The owner Bill is great and is pretty knowledgeable about cars. He does a great job. Like any auto place, depending on the problem, you might have to leave your car for approx 1 week. But most of the time, it's usually just a couple of days and again that depends on the severity of the issue. I recommend this place! Bill knows his stuff!!!
