We had a wonderful day on Martha's Vineyard and saw so many beautiful places thanks to our road trip across the island – pricelessly beautiful and highly recommended. The car was clean and in mint condition, which made it really enjoyable. However, what did spoil the day, and what this review is about, was the car rental process. As booked and confirmed, we arrived at the Oak Bluffs location shortly before 10 a.m. It was cold, windy, and there was no one to be seen. Only a sign: Location closed during the off-season. I checked my emails and the confirmation again – no, we had booked the car from here, so someone had to come. After waiting 15 minutes in the cold and wind, checking my emails, still nothing. When you walk by the Jeeps and say, hey, we should rent one of those, just do it. If not, then you’re pretty much just stuck in that one city when there’s so many things to see around the island. Highly recommend going to the cliffs.

If I could give 0 stars I would. I made a car rental reservation here in advance, expecting a smooth experience as I had rented from them twice in previous years. When I arrived on Martha’s Vineyard, I was told, without warning, “the car hasn’t come back, so we have no car for you.” That was it—no backup plan, no attempt to help. When we asked if there was another rental place nearby, the man simply said, “up the road to the left”. We asked if he could call them to see if they had a car, and his response was, “ Just walk up the street and ask them.” He made no effort to fix the situation. This is especially disappointing because they had my credit card on file from previous rentals—showing I was a returning customer—and still didn’t care that I had just arrived by ferry with no transport

DO NOT RENT HERE. Terrible service, they make up for lower price in fees, and have extremely rude service. When we picked up the car the attendant Chris said to bring it back "reasonably clean, don't bring the whole beach back with you." We did not take it driving on the beach for that reason, but our shoes had sand from walking, which they should expect renting on an island. When we brought it back (pictures included) Chris said it was the worst he's ever seen, we must have driven it on the beach, and there would be cleaning fees for sure. We took it out and shook out the rugs, brought it back again and he insisted it was the worst condition he'd seen, and that it wasn't how he'd like to run a business but there would be fees.
