AAMCO Transmissions & Total Car Care

Went to diagnose a brake issue with my civic. They told me the front brakes were getting bad and the rears were shot. He quoted me 900 for that and then told me my brake booster was shot and needed replacement at 1100. I got a a second opinion from a mobile mechanic. The front pads were still at 80%. The booster was fine. All he did was the back brakes and bled the brake system which took about 20 minutes and the brake system is as good as new. I got the parts from O'reillys and he charged me 350. So I saved well over a thousand dollars by not listening to their advice. Total scam. Google AI diagnosed my symptoms (spongy pedal) more effectively than they did so I smell a scam.

AAMCO San Rafael was great servicing my car. Quick appointment scheduled the next day. Shannon was professional and explained the process clearly. Had a small issue which required me to bring the car back, however, Shannon and his team were able to repair the problem first thing the next morning. Highly recommend for not only transmissions, but any other issues as they offer total car care!

We have a 2010 Ford Explorer with over 200,000 miles that we love and wanted to keep when the transmission went out. We found Shannon on the internet and took it in to replace the transmission. Through the entire service, Shannon always kept us well informed and has worked with us to get it just right without hesitation. I feel secure knowing that whatever might arise down the road, I can just give Shannon a call and he will take care of it. Great shop, great people!

I came yesterday 12/16/2025 to ask Shanon for an estimate to replace the transmission of my car. He asked me to bring it to the shop for A free inspection, which was nice. Then this morning he asked me to pay for $295.00 for removing the transmission oil panel and put it back. Honestly, I don’t know why he did that when I Was clear with him that I knew what was found while I had the car at the Big-O-tires location. And what he did was already done by Big-O tires representative. Of course I ended paying, Otherwise he did not release the car to me after he gave me the estimate (Over 8K)
