Alamo Rent A Car

Wife and I have rented cars from Alamo before multiple times off our debt card so we locked down a car there at the DM airport. We show up and was told they dont do that and also wanted a $300 deposit. This was never mentioned while reserving the car. Customer service was rude. I understand if there are policies but at least make it clear before people drive an hour away to pick up a car. I will never go through Alamo again.

Whatever you do, choose a different rental company! This one is deceptive! There is a nickel size door ding they have filed a claim against me for regardless of the fact the paper they provided says if a scratch or door ding happens that fits inside this very large circle on paperwork, doesn’t count. Yet they are trying to run their scam with my insurance company anyway! The 2nd rep at airport measured the door ding with their paper and told me I had nothing to worry about and then today I receive a formal claim against me! Total scam! Avoid Alamo at all cost! Too many reputable rental companies out there, just not this one!

DO NOT get a toll pass from Alamo. They literally charge you $19.99 so they can take it directly out of your account without any permissions. You are still allowed to take the tolls and pay the exact same amount whether you have a toll pass or not. It does not give you any benefit or discount for using the tolls. It just allows them to charge the card you have on file. So essentially you pay $20 so you don't have make a separate payment for tolls. This is not explained when they ask if you'd like to buy extra add-ons. There is no point to purchasing a toll pass It just makes things easier for them, not you. Total waste of money. Wont use Alamo again, there are too many different options now a days.

Had a very good experience renting from Alamo in Des Moines, IA. Counter experience was smooth, even though it was just before their midnight closing time. Car was where it was supposed to be, was new, clean, ran well and reasonably priced. After arriving back at DSM, checking back in was SUPER easy, not taking more than 90 seconds. I recommend Alamo if you get the chance.

The team was super friendly and very efficient. Explained everything to me clearly. Car was easy to find and all gassed up and ready to go. Everyone was fantastic, even though I was running behind and frustrated myself. They were still amazing.!
