I've been going to him since 2014 and never had any problems when I had my Toyota. But recently, I brought in my Subaru to get the tires done, and that’s when things changed. While it’s okay to use an impact wrench to remove the lug nuts, it should not be used to tighten them back on — that’s what a torque wrench is for. Unfortunately, they used the impact wrench to tighten the lug nuts, and it was done way too tight. When I tried to remove them later, two lug nuts broke off. I explained what happened, expecting at least some accountability, but he just brushed it off and said it wasn’t his problem. But my recent visit with my Subaru was a completely different experience, and I’m very disappointed in how the situation was handled. I came in to have my tires serviced. I understand using an impact wrench to remove lug nuts, but using it to tighten them back on is not acceptable. Lug nuts should be torqued properly with a torque wrench, not over-tightened with an impact gun. Because of this, three of my lug nuts broke off when trying to remove them later.
