This garage has some great reviews and some terrible ones. I'll share my experience for whatever it is worth. Austin auto is not an inexpensive garage to go to. I trust Tim Austin, but some of his hired help has been bad. Tim has high standards for what is road worthy, so you won't get a quick cheap state inspection. He did pass me last year for just the cost of inspection, but this year he found many more things in need of repair. The catalytic converter needed replacement so that's $1,000 right there. The water pump needed replacement, which I knew, and he also did some break lines and a rear break cylinder. Some other rusty break and exhaust parts were needed as well. So this year it cost me $1,900, but I don't think he did any work that was not necessary. I probably would have

Great Place, Great people. Honest and reliable. As far as integrity goes, I would give them an 11 on a scale of 1 to 10. I would recommend anybody to bring their car here. I get great service plus. What "great service plus" means to me: Personalized service, options given with estimates from most expensive fix, with new parts, to a least expensive fix in which the mechanic works within the customer's budget for low end income folks like myself. The office clerk has mechanical know-how herself and fields/vets the service call, right off the bat, to start to give the customer a sense of security. Her customer service skills are professional and she is friendly, which is important to me. The owner has a teacher's heart and took the time to explain, with impressive articulation/communication skills uncommon for car mechanics, what issues my 20 year old car has. Very professional and reasonably priced. The owner is a top notch mechanic who is meticulous about his work and highly knowledgeable. His team of younger mechanics are efficient and courteous and the whole business aims to satisfy its customers. The front office is always very accommodating. I do almost all of the work on my own cars when I have the time and tools necessary for the tasks. I am a mechanical engineer by training. Given this, I do know what is required to perform effective and professional repairs. When I do not want to carry out work on my own cars, there is only one place I take them and that is to Austin Automotive. I know that the work will be carried out properly.
