Avis Car Rental

January 2025: Love renting cars from this Avis car rental location. I've gotten very good service from this location. I didn't get my choice of cars the last time and the agent was able to offer a Mazda CX5. Rented the car for four days and had a great experience. Getting in and out of the rental car facility is easy. It's about a 10 minute walk to the terminal but very pleasant. My go-to rental car company in Burbank.

Avis BUR was severely understaffed. Huge line for Preferred (and equally long line at the regular Avis downstairs). The guy at the counter was doing his best, he was professional and patient, but there should have been many more people working. I waited for 45 minutes. Not good.

We had a great experience at this location because of Rosie who really went out of her way to help us get a replacement car. We came to this location because of mechanical concerns with the Full Size SUV we picked up at the LAX branch. I approached another lady before Rosie, and the other lady only offered a sedan and did not even bother to help further because "they're fully booked." I called customer service to help me with locating another Full Size SUV within the city, but they were not helpful at all. After the call, I came to the counter for the second time and I was lucky enough to speak with Rosie. Rosie mentioned the same thing - they were fully booked, BUT she actually went above and beyond by going through their system/computer to check for any vehicles and called her teammates

Just don't rent from avis. I was erroneously charged an extra hour (which added 300$ to my bill), and have had to call four separate times to get my money back. Their customer service is not the best. The workers inside this specific location are very nice though!

This is the third(+) and likely final strike for me with Avis. Other rental companies have surpassed them in both customer experience and vehicle quality, and after this experience, I’m not sure I’ll choose Avis again. In the past, I’ve faced bigger frustrations with Avis—like arriving to find they didn’t have a single car available for us, waiting in DMV-like lines for hours, contending with slow, antiquated, failing dot matrix printers, or being pressured into unnecessary upgrades. To be fair, these issues aren’t necessarily exclusive to Avis, and I wouldn’t bother writing a review for common problems. What pushed me this time was the car quality.
