Avis Car Rental

I was a hesitant to rent here due to the 2.9 rating. However, this was my smoothest experience with Avis I ever had. The lady at the rental counter (sorry didn't get your name!) was very helpful and nice. The security guard that pulls the car out and takes it when you drop it off was great as well. I'm thankful this site is close to Harlem. I'll be back when I need a car in the future. Appreciate you!

It was one of the worst rental experiences I’ve ever had! We reserved a mid-size SUV, but the car we received was clearly a compact SUV, much smaller than expected. The car interior was dirty, with a strong cigarette smell that soaked into all my clothes. Totally unacceptable! The vehicle also continuously displayed an urgent recall alert related to the brake pedals. Renting out a vehicle that hasn’t been properly maintained or serviced is a serious safety issue. When I raised my concerns, the front desk staff was dismissive and unhelpful, saying they were “really busy” and that this was the only car available. No apology, no attempt to make things right. I don’t usually write negative reviews, but this experience was unacceptable. I booked a car through the Avis app for pickup at this location. When I arrived, the counter staff immediately said they couldn’t help me and told me to call the 800 number. While on speaker, the phone agent and the counter employee argued with each other in front of me. No one took ownership of the issue. I was then told to call Uber. Uber told me to call Avis. In the end, I left with no car, no resolution, and after already paying. For a company like Avis, this level of service is disappointing. Booking through the app meant nothing, and the staff made no effort to help. I would not recommend relying on this location if you need a vehicle when you arrive.

Had to wait 2 hours to pick up my car. First they “did not use any cars available” and told me to come back in an hour. Then I had to wait for an additional hour while 2 other groups were served. It took them 2 hours to help 2 people! Never renting here again, complete garbage service

I rented from this location last week and will not be returning. We waited an hour and 20 minutes for the car. There were 2 computers, but one has been broken since at least early August. It was broken when I rented a few weeks ago and last week. Only one person was checking people in and that same person was also going to get the cars. This location is understaffed and under-resourced. It’s also very hot in the summer in the parking garage. The 76th St Avis location is better because you can wait indoors in the air conditioning and overall it’s more efficient to get the car.
