Avis Car Rental

I arrived on time for my scheduled pickup in Franklin, TN, only to find the office closed at the exact time Avis scheduled my reservation. The posted “24-hour support” number routed back to the closed office, and customer service was unable to help other than sending me to the Nashville airport at a higher cost. At the airport, I was assigned multiple vehicles that smelled strongly of cigarette smoke and had visible exterior damage, despite Avis advertising a smoke-free fleet. Staff were dismissive, and after losing significant time due to Avis’s errors, I felt pressured to accept a car that did not meet basic standards. The smoke odor was severe enough to cause migraines. Had a reservation for a minivan at noon. At the location and they have zero cars of any kind and don’t expect more cars for 2 hours. Not helpful! Offered no options. Didn’t look for availability at any other locations. Just said sit and wait for 2 hours.

Avoid this branch and Avis in general! Booked a SUV 2 weeks ahead. Went 1 hour early to ensure smooth pickup and as I have a flight to catch from Atlanta. Pickup was 4 pm, was told to wait till 4:30 and waited. Was told at 4:30 that suv is unavailable but they can do mini van but have to wait till 5. Waited till 5:30 and was told van wont come today and they will close now. Call their customer support and was told nowhere in Nashville they can get me a car. I have 3 kids and a flight to catch from Atlanta. Please Save your trip and book from others. This Branch is a SCAM.

Great experience! I accidentally left something in the car after my rental — my favorite hat. It may sound small, but it mattered to me. The team reached out right away and made sure it got back to me. Outstanding service and much appreciated.

Edit: I contacted Avis at the email address they gave in the response below to no avail. I clearly showed a quote for $223 and then a bill for $335 and they insisted that the quote matches the invoice. I will be following up with my company management team to ensure that we drop Avis as a preferred supplier from our travel agent website. This is beyond absurd, and no one will take accountability.
