Avis Car Rental

I’ve rented from this Avis at least 5 times in the last year. This is the service you can expect from my honest review. I had to come home for a funeral Dec 2025, I reserved a premium SUV. When i got off the plane at midnight, the line for the rental counter upstairs was 5 people deep. There was only 1 person working the counter. There were almost no vehicles in the parking lot. I kept hearing the assistant tell others in front of me that she has a limited selection. When it was my turn. She did not have the premium SUV and instead gave me a Jeep Grand Cherokee. I specifically needed the large vehicle to transport family for this funeral. The vehicle was given to us with 1/4 tank of gas, scratches and dents to the vehicle. I was a bit cautious of renting from this location due to all of the reviews I read, however, I have to say my overall experience was wonderful. My flight came in at 12:30 pm on a Saturday and my vehicle was ready before I deplaned. I received notice that my vehicle would be waiting at a particular spot and I could go straight to it and drive off. Now I know not everyone is able to do express check in, so I will say my experience relies heavily on that aspect. Once I got to my designated spot, I inspected the Chrysler Pacifica and everything was satisfactory. Full tank, clean, no odors, no damages found. Hello, I’m a President’s Circle member, and one of the key benefits I value is the ability to get in my car and go quickly. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case during my recent visit. I had to wait in line for about 20 minutes, and after each customer was helped at the counter, the staff would step away to the back, causing further delays. To make matters worse, one employee appeared to be doing nothing—just sitting on his phone instead of assisting customers. After finally being helped, I was then directed upstairs where I had to wait in yet another line to get my car. The experience was very frustrating, especially after a long flight. Please don’t rent cars out to people and then not have them available. Especially if you’re going to charge before hand. They were giving people sprinter vans. Ended up having to cancel and go with enterprise. Worse part is this was at 2am and they had no one at the counter. Lesson learned .

I needed something cheap. Well, you get what you pay for. Let's start with the good- the car was clean and ran well. It was good on gas and did it's job as anyone would expect. Now for the bad- the customer service is terrible! Read that fine print baby, there's an additional $250 hold deposit that I didn't see anywhere in the paperwork that they say will be returned once they get the car back. Cool, then tell me that in plain English so I can budget accordingly. Check out online upon renting the car, I try to change the return address- won't let me, the system said to ask the agent. I ask the (rudest, maybe it's just New Orleans, I dunno) customer service agent in the airport if we can change it, she shrugs her shoulders and tells me to ask 1-800 customer service who punts me to an in off
