Avis Car Rental

Today I was trying to rent a car for my daughter because her Hyundai Palisade broke down and had to be towed back to Hyundai of Canton. They replaced the transmission back in April 2025 and only gave us a 12 month 12,000 miles after we and our extended warranty paid $4,000. Anyway I made reservations from my AARP website, but I had to call the 800 number because the website wasn't working well. I gave the lady my Coupon code and my AARP Membership and I received a confirmation email to pick up the vehicle at 2:30 pm this afternoon. I picked my daughter up and we drove from Cartersville to Acworth , but when we got there the young man behind the counter said the car wasn't available. I was just livid after going through so much to give my information and credit card to secure the vehicle. I

DO NOT RESERVE!!! ITS A SCAM!! Like many other reviews. I reserved a car they don’t have in stock and they tried to upsell me. They had 0 cars available other than a vehicle that costs more. They moved me to the other location on Cobb by Barrett same experience. If you do some searching these two locations are the only ones in the greater ATL that advertise cars not available. These two locations are run by the same operator. It’s obvious the problem is with this operator as Avis is a franchise and they should investigate these two locations as it’s ruining their brand.

Avis left our family completely stranded for the holidays with zero recourse. We reserved a large vehicle enough for 5 people weeks in advance. We paid for it (several hundred dollars) in full. The day of the reservation we get a call less than an hour before the reservation saying that they don’t have the car we reserved. What??? We immediately call support and they were completely useless. Guess what happened next? We were left stranded. Apparently their business model is to rely on people turning back in vehicles in order to have them for the next guests. What happens when that doesn’t go as planned? Well you get completely screwed over after giving a company several hundreds dollars of the interest free loan. Do not ever put your trust in this company, they will screw you over.

Reserved a car from here multiple weeks in advance (5 weeks to be precise). Come the DAY OF the reservation, this location calls me to tell me they don’t have the car, despite me already paying for the vehicle. Support was non-existent and completely useless. I was left without a vehicle to travel during the holidays. Complete breach of contract. Apparently this is pretty standard practice after doing some research. Smells like a class action lawsuit to me.

Beware, they allow you to make a reservation and do not honor price when you arrive. They say the car is not available and try to charge you more money for a smaller class car. I decided to leave after already receiving a ride to pick up car (my ride already left too). I refuse to pay more for something less. Thanks for huge inconvenience! Ridiculous system.
