Avis Car Rental

When I arrived I found a dirty hole in the wall place, with no outside sign, and a couple of surly, homeless looking guys running the place. I was rudely informed that they'd be running a hard credit check, and if my credit wasn't above 700, they wouldn't be renting me a car. I found this out AFTER calling the company, and asking what documents, etc. I'd need. Not once did they mention a credit check. I wasn't about to give these two sketchy characters my information for a credit check, and went to Enterprise instead. At Enterprise, the prices were about the same, the place was clean, the people had uniforms, and they were friendly and helpful. AND there was no credit check. It's Enterprise for me from now on, I won't even bother looking at Avis.

Terrible Location - Inconsistencies I’ve been a Preferred Member with Avis for years and am even a former employee, so I know exactly how the rental and return process works. Unfortunately, my recent experience at this small Avis location was beyond frustrating and left me feeling completely taken advantage of. Everything seemed fine when I returned my rental. The same employee who inspected the car confirmed everything looked good, and I left with no issues. However, about five hours later, I got a phone call from that same employee telling me that after trying to rent the car to two other customers — who simply didn’t want that particular vehicle — they suddenly decided to charge me a “miscellaneous cleaning fee.” This makes absolutely no sense. By far the best experience in car rental that I've ever had! Shamefully, the first rental car only lasted about 4 hours before someone in a grocery store parking lot smashed in the front drivers side..... But since I had their damage waiver insurance which only cost me about $7 a day.... I was in another car in less than a half an hour after I turned in the first car. There's only about three people working there but I've seen them handle crowds that can fill a plane. Always pleasant! Always accommodating! Simply one of the best!

I reserved a Toyota Camry, but you don't even have anything remotely similar! You only have an electric Chevy Bolt and that's it! No alternatives! Why did I bother making a reservation, wasting my time and money on a taxi? Just to hear that you have nothing? Zero stars! Absolutely zero!

Would give it less if I could. Had a family emergency and needed a rental car for my parents. Over priced, i asked for a compact car and got conformation on it. When I arrived they had none and give them an suv, ok fine was going to return it to Tampa Airport they said fine no extra charge but plans changed and my parents didn't fly out of Tampa so when they return it to the place we rented it they charged them an extra 318.00 unacceptable talk about a hidden charge. I will stop payment on my card for that. Never again would I use this rental place or this company again scamming 80 yr old people
