Avis Car Rental

I had never used Avis before, but this was a great first experience. After reading all the negative reviews I was very nervous. But Avis was the least expensive out of the car rentals at Midland airport.The gentleman at the counter was super friendly, kind, and very helpful. Our car was in impeccable condition (very clean and smelled fresh) and was a real trooper, as we put a lot of miles on it driving to Big Bend National Park. The rental process was so easy, and I would definitely use Avis again in the future.

Let me make a reservation, then denied me upon pickup because my Credit Card is in my digital wallet and not physically on me. Left me stranded and unable to get home. I will never use Avis here, or anywhere in the world again for the rest of my life. Absolutely terrible. Edit: Response to the response. That's correct. The company website should really not allow one to make a reservation and then demand something other than what's provided then, during pickup. Can you see how that might be misleading? At the very least, the additional requirements ought to be highlighted front and center in the emails and texts I got post-reservation... Not buried deep in the fine print. Have rented vehicles here on several occasions for business purposes, the last few times the vehicles I have received were dirty, unclean and overall unacceptable. I get that it’s mostly us individuals in the Oil & Gas industry and service industry, but when our companies pay good money for rental’s then Avis should ensure that the vehicles are clean, well kept and ready for the next customer. This rental I had this time looks like it had not been cleaned in several weeks or months, and yes it’s disgusting getting into a dirty rental vehicle especially not knowing who was in it previously. I will look to use another rental company go forward and will also make our corporate office aware of this.

After 200+ days of renting from Avis with all the top tier status and no prior issues I was charged $450 for having mud in the wheel well and general road dirt. Called customer service, they quote policy and insist on charging me. It doesn't take $450 to clean wheel wells. Never renting from Avis again.

Reservations appear to hold little value at this location. Despite having confirmed reservations, there were no vehicles available and no apology or acknowledgment of the inconvenience. More than 25 customers with reservations were left waiting, while staff offered nothing beyond a phone number to call you when a car is available. This reflects a serious failure in customer service, a lack of accountability, and a complete absence of empathy for the commitments and schedules of their customers.
