Avis Car Rental

Made a reservation through a 3rd party, showed up for pick up and they had no available vehicles for one way rentals. Even though they had a lot full of cars. The ladies just stared at us with no solution and apologizes.

My recent rental with Avis was an absolute disaster from start to finish. I was issued not one, not two, but three separate vehicles before I could even begin my trip. The first two were unsafe and inoperable — one reeked so badly of cigarette smoke that I returned it within 20 minutes, which I reported immediately. The third vehicle was subpar at best, and I had to drive to the Ontario airport to pick it up because the Monrovia/Duarte location didn't have any cars left, but by that point, I had already wasted hours driving between multiple locations just trying to get something roadworthy. Weeks later, Avis had the audacity to hit me with a $450 “cleaning fee” — a completely baseless charge with zero proof. Be aware!!! This place will give you a rental that has expired tags and no insurance and than they will say, it's no big deal. If you get pulled over it shows that it's a rental.... really, no big deal, why should I have to even go through any of that???? Horrible and inconsiderate service.

Unfortunately, I can’t recommended this place for renting for drive with Uber. Some people are reasonable at this location while others are not. To begin with, I was rented a faulty gas guzzling jeep with shot cv axles. The cars are not serviced prior to renting, so you’ll probably have to take it in for repair. They make it seem like they have a mechanic across the street you can just stroll in and get service, but it’s actually a lengthy process that’ll have you losing money from the start. Too problematic so i traded it in for an EV. Another mistake. First day I got it it came with nearly worn tires that deflated the next day which required a drive to service. Picking up my rental was quick and easy, including the drop off. The Customer Service Representatives were friendly and professional. All their cars were clean and one of reps walked me to the car to make sure it was to my satisfaction. I will go this Avis again. Very Happy with the Service!
