Avis Car Rental

I am an Avis Preferred Plus member and had one of the worst rental experiences I’ve ever had. I was denied a rental at multiple Nashville locations, including downtown, because the kiosk ID scanner showed a red error despite having a valid New Mexico driver’s license, no holds on my profile, and recent successful rentals with Avis. What made this unacceptable was that employees and managers refused to help manually and repeatedly told me to contact the DMV in another state, which made no sense. Corporate later confirmed I had no restrictions, yet the issue was never resolved and I was still denied service. I made a reservation few hours before getting the car online, and I got a confirmation email. Went to that location to pick up the car. They told me they didn't have any car left. I showed the reservation confirmation, and they told me it didn't mean anything. Apparently 5/6 customers didn't return the car on time as they originally agreed on. That might be true but why none of two ladies working there didn't bother to send me an email or call me to let me know that might not have any car available? I walked 25 minutes to go there for nothing. This is last time I book a car on Avis!

The staff are friendly and accommodating. Have a very wide selection of cars and provides free upgrades on car rentals. If available, they sometimes accommodate same-day car rentals which is very nice. Location is easy to find as well. Folks have gone above and beyond in terms of customer service. Update: 01/30/2026 This deserves a commendation reason why I'm updating my reviews. Dustin has done it again and exceeded the customer service practices. He did call me to check when I ran late due to work commitments. He kept me updated and ensured that I will get a rental car today. Very accommodating and knows how to value his customers. - Jose

This is the worst Avis car rental location in town. Because of this experience, I would never be renting with Avis car rental. Should have seen the signs, when I got there, a lady was already panicked and struggling with her rental, then someone else had a debit card issue and had to cancel their rental. When I called to try and extend my rental, the person hung up the call while we were talking. Went to return the rental in freezing cold 40 mins before my return time, the store had a sign of it being closed and that they would return back in an hour. Went back and returned my car as soon as they opened, they charged me extra for returning the car an hour late!! I am sorry but I work in customer service and understand times are challenging, but this is not the type of customer experience

Hi, I am a long time Avis customer and usually am happy with the Avis customer service. But my last rental was a horrible experience at the Nashville location . I showed up on time at the rental but I had to wait for over an hour to receive my car- Toyota Camry . Sitting at the lobby doing nothing listening to the jackhammering in the background. Just horrible If the location did not have the cars available , I should have at least gotten a call from the location stating that I should expect some delay and accordingly I would have visited the location based on the delay. I had to Uber in to the location so it takes time and money to reach the location as well. I came in the middle of my work hrs to pick up the car so that I do not have to come during the closing hrs and annoy the staff b
