Avis Car Rental

Took a while to get service even though employees were chatting in a back room. Reserved a small car but got a 4WD SUV. OK, but loud tires and not as great MPG. The steering wheel was all sticky, so I had to clean that once we got to a hotel. The trunk was unsuitable for luggage since it was not clean. Lots of scratches I had to take pics of so I wouldn't be blamed. "Change oil" warning came on every time I started the car. (I called and was told "Don't worry about it.") Drop off was easy.

Upon arrival , I needed to add less than a day to my reservation I was quoted $80. I canceled rental ,and rebooked through expedia I was able to get another vehicle with an upgrade for $15 a day. I returned vehicle and I wanted a receipt because each time I come to this location it’s just always something the employee’s always trying to get more money. I received my receipt and employee didn’t want to do a walk around the vehicle. 1 hour later I received text from a personal number about car having a smoke smell. I had to leave airport ,and go back around building to Avis the employee that charged my credit card wasn’t there anymore it was a whole new shift. I was told I would be refunded there no evidence of smoke no ashes or anything. I have NEVER SMOKED anything. If the employee did

One of the worst customer experiences I’ve ever had. The employee working the counter seemed to not speak English. The only words he spoke were “$120” and “sign here”. My rental for was priced at $279 instead, I was charged a late fee when I was not late, fuel service even though I dropped it off full, and additional insurance coverages I did not consent to.

This location is running a scam on fuel refills. They give you a car with 3/4 tank then charge you a flat rate for refilling when you return it. If you try to be honest and refill off site you will not be reimbursed. Spent more time on phone trying to resolve the issue than I did driving the car. Rent offsite from another company if possible.

I have rented with Avis nearly exclusively for 30 years. I recently rented a car with Avis in Tweed New Haven airport. Checkout was fine, but when we got to the car it was filthy! The exterior was dirty but the interior was worse…looked like it hadn’t been vacuumed for months. The dust was thick on the dash. The attendant said they did not have access to a car wash, but there is a commercial vacuum right in the lot. We received a different car which was a little cleaner, but after we left the lot we found trash under the seat including an empty milk carton. I pay more to rent for Avis and expect much more. I won’t rent from this location and maybe Avis ever again
