Avis Car Rental

I had an absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish. The booking process was smooth and straightforward, communication was clear, and everything was exactly as described. The location is convenient and clean. Saron the manager was professional and patient. Any questions we had were answered quickly, and she truly went above and beyond to make the process stress free!

I reserved a pick up truck through Costco travel at this Avis 10 days in advance. I looked on Avis website to confirm they had a pick up truck available as I needed something to haul off a queen mattress. Unfortunately, I get there and they tell me “oh we don’t have a pick up truck at all. We can give you a minivan though and you can just fold the seats down.” I told them that wouldn’t work because I have a baby and wife who are going to ride in the back. The front desk representatives apologized for the inconvenience and were kind to me. They told me “we don’t know why our website shows a pick up truck available when we don’t have one at all. The website should’ve never let you make the reservation.” While I don’t blame the Avis front desk at this location, I am very disappointed

Rented a compact for work trip in Newport News, got the Ford Escape low miles that smelled like smoke. Took the car back to airport counter and was immediately met with aggravation. They kept insisting they didn’t have cars, but really just didn’t want to give me one that was there because I “got the cheap person rate and everything you get will be an upgrade so you gotta pay the difference”….their solution is to give me a mini-van. I walk back to lot and it’s only got 1/2 tank (see picture). So I go back to gate, again with the questionable service. So I ask again about the other cars and I can wait an hour for something to get cleaned in my rental bracket or wait for her to go get gas….i wait…then get van and when I check it out it’s filthy. I arrived to the counter to Avis Rental counter to check in to receive the rental the day before Thanksgiving. I was handed keys to a Bronco. No explanation from the representative about receiving a different vehicle. I explained to the representative that I reserved a Camry not a Bronco on Expedia’s website several weeks ago. She said in a nonchalant manner that no other vehicle was available. Due to going out of town the next I was unable to cancel the reservation. I am very disappointed with the customer service and behavior of the representative. She did not offer an apology for the inconvenience. Read the reviews before renting from this location! I had an absolutely awful experience at this Avis location. I reserved and prepaid for a Premium SUV at 7:00 AM on January 2nd, and as an Avis Preferred Plus member, I expected a quick, hassle-free pickup. Instead, no one was there at 7:00 AM — even though that’s when they were supposed to open. An employee finally showed up around 7:30, and there were already several of us waiting. It took him another 10 minutes to get situated, then he told us their system was down and had no idea when it would be fixed — minutes or hours (?!). He basically said we could wait or call customer service for a refund, showing no interest in actually helping.
