Avis Car Rental

I decided to try the Uber rental program with an electric vehicle Chevy Bolt thinking it would help me earn extra income. Unfortunately, this has been one of the worst business decisions I’ve made. The car doesn’t even get 250 miles on a full charge. It only holds about a 2-hour charge at a time, and charging takes around 2 hours. On top of that, it costs about $20 per day just to charge it. That adds up fast. The rental is $389 per week, and when you include charging costs, I’m spending around $530 a week just to operate. That’s before factoring in the time lost sitting at charging stations. Many charging stations are either down, part of a network outage, or run extremely slow. Avis rented this uber Car to me Thursday. The tire is in bad shape. The tire was reported on friday, I took the vehicle to the approved service station "Tires Plus" on prairie view Rd. Tires plus reported that avis corporate passed the message "this vehicle has 4 bad Tires and needs ro be returned to the shop it was rented from". I arrived at avis at 5pm on friday and communicated that I had a funeral to be at in Saint Louis for Saturday and the tire was not fit to drive across the state. This is not very MOM AND POP of you. Employee offered to sell me a tire insurance policy for $60 and told me that I was going to have to pay for the tire out of pocket which is not the standard procedure for Uber drivers. This place was Decent. Tons of vehicles, which is great. The manager also seems like the only person working with customers. The only issue we had with this place was the manager claiming we did not fill the gas tank back to Full, which we did and understand, its a requirement when returned. Had to give a receipt showing that we pumped it full just to look the same when returned at $1.65 which is frustrating. Not only that, we had a surcharge because we "didn't fill it to full" just to find out the vehicle gauge wasn't saying full. =-\

Nearly ruined a family vacation. Booked a vehicle months an advanced only to be told that we are not able to get a vehicle for things that were never heard of. even Enterprise were shocked. They told us we need to have the person who booked the vehicle, and the person driving all to be under one name. Not me being the purchaser and my father in law being the registered driver. It took HOURS to fix this. My girlfriend overheard another worker that this could be bypassed but the worker who was attending us refused to do that. Richard and staff are great. My go to location, not too far from airport, close enough to Downtown, and close to any location I need to Uber to or from this location for a rental. Usually I get the car I want, never put me in a car I don’t like. But if they do since it’s a busy location, they call me when they have something else available or assure me I can trade car at any Avis location. Usually they have a couple luxury cars. I got from a mustang to challenger, suburban, expedition, convertible etc. if you need something for a safe comfortable travel without the extra hassles or even just something nice for the weekend, this is your spot!
