Avis Car Rental

My husband rented a vehicle from Avis for our weekend road trip, and the condition of the car was completely unacceptable. The moment we opened the door, we were hit with a strong, overwhelming odor it smelled like someone had been living in the vehicle with a dog. The stench resembled old vomit mixed with heavy pet odor. There was visible dog hair throughout the car. We tried to wipe it down ourselves just to make it tolerable, which we should not have had to do. Unfortunately, I experienced an allergic reaction due to the amount of pet hair in the vehicle. When we picked up the car, the location was already closed, so we were unable to immediately return it or request a different vehicle. *They are located in their new building as of 7-12-17* Great service and great cars and in the same building as the Budget car rental. Full review: The people that work here are kind and friendly . They have the newest cars and SUVs and trucks for rent for less money then Enterprise and Hertz. They always give you a full tank of gas and they make sure that your car is ready to be picked up at the time of your reservation. One of the downsides is that the vehicles are sometimes a bit Dirty on the inside and the outside. The other downside is that they don't pick you up or drive you back. But overall for the 4-6 times a year I rent from Avis/Budget of Orland park I am happy. 4.5 stars.

I've used this location a couple of times now, and my experience has been excellent each time. No complaints. Would recommend. I just chose them again for an upcoming trip, rather than shopping around for a deal.

Renting was easy, but I would caution on the return. I returned the rental full on gas and my emailed receipt said 7/8, not 8/8 and was charged $37 for gas. I was livid after paying $1800 for a rental. Please ask that they review the car while you are there. I'm not sure what they did as I turned in the key and the young lady said you are good. I had to call for a receipt and then trying to reach the location, is a no go as you are routed to a call center that gives you the runaround. When I called the first time and could not find my reservation number and asked if she could locate me by something else, Mariah hung up on me. My recent experience with Avis Orland park IL location was nothing short of a nightmare, leaving me feeling completely ripped off and utterly frustrated. Not only was I hit with an outrageous and unjustified cleaning fee, but the customer service I received when trying to resolve the issue was truly abysmal. Upon returning the car, which was in a perfectly reasonable state for a rental – certainly not requiring any special cleaning beyond a standard wash – I was later shocked to see an exorbitant "cleaning charge" tacked onto my bill. This was despite my diligent efforts to return the vehicle in the condition I received it. It felt like a blatant attempt to squeeze extra money out of me for a service that wasn't necessary.
