Avis Car Rental

Second time rental. 1st was ok, but, second rental was a nightmare. One employee; he got very busy after my arrival. They gave me a Jeep Grand Wagoneer. After driving for maybe 10 min., the vehicled smelled like someone had been smoking ma·ri·jua·na. When I got home, I immediately phoned the call center. They offered me to return the vehicle, but, I declined because we were on a schedule to make it to TN. I sprayed it down with "Frabreeze." So, we packed up and drove off. I made a mental note to my wife, and told her that for a new hybrid vehicle, it seem like it made an engine noise like an older vehicle might make. It seem to drive just fine until about 75 miles into our drive. A slight ticking noise began. Then, tire pressure sensor noted left front tire was at "39" and right front

When shopping around for the rental we needed to take on our family vacation, Avis was the only store with availability of the vehicle we needed and the time we needed to rent the vehicle. Pick up and drop off was a breeze with prompt & friendly staff. They had everything from mustangs to 12 passenger vans and I was extremely surprised and happy to see the organization and availability of the rentals. We needed washer fluid before taking off on our trip and the employee (Nick) was waiting on us for fill up. Check in took under 10 min (including rental inspection) and drop off was quick & easy under 5 min. The van had Apple car play and was super convenient for answering calls & texts safely while driving. The navigation was a plus as well. Highly recommend Avis of Roanoke.

I recently had a disappointing experience with Avis. After parking my personal vehicle on their property, it was towed, despite there being no visible signs indicating that parking was prohibited. As a frequent customer, I expected better communication about parking policies. The $410 tow bill was an unwelcome surprise, leading me to reconsider my loyalty to Avis. I can’t recommend them based on this experience.

Roadside assistance booked me a car replacement here after I had issues with my rental. After I drove all the way, the man at the counter (mid age/white) refused me service and lied about roadside assistance not calling him. The lot was full of cars and he said he doesn’t have any. Seems pretty discriminatory.

Poor customer service and total confusion with car drop off after hours. One guy missed his flight because there was no instructions for how to return the car when he picked up the rental even though they ask when will the car be returned. Either invest in better signage or hire better staff who will actually execute customer service.
