Very poor experience at the Avis/Budget counter at Tallahassee International Airport on Sunday, December 14 between 4-6 pm. I waited close to 40 minutes just to be helped, and the agent’s attitude was rude, dismissive, and unprofessional from the start. When I explained that my GEICO insurance is full coverage and extends to rental cars, she became aggressive and repeatedly emphasized that if anything happened to the vehicle, they would charge my credit card for the full cost of the damage. That has never happened to me before, and it felt unnecessary and hostile. I was then given a car that was dirty, smelled bad (strong smoke odor), and had only half a tank of gas. After returning my rental, I was charged $590 for a small windshield chip, something that is routinely repaired for a fraction of that cost. I was not given any meaningful opportunity to dispute the charge or see a repair invoice justifying the amount. Just a heads up about additional fees at this location. I booked through a 3rd party, when I showed up for my rental there was additional airport fees. They only accept a credit card not a debit for payment. I was unaware of the additional $200.00 Fees and it was not listed on my confirmation receipt for the amount due at pick up. They explained the fee would be returned at drop off. If I knew ahead of time I could have been more prepared.

Excellent service at Avis. They were super helpful and courteous. I had a great experience picking up the vehicle at Panama City Airport and when returned to Tallahassee Airport, the customer service was consistent. The male agent even drove with me to drop off the car because I couldn't find the parking lot entrance. I highly recommend.

I arrived around 5:30 PM and found a long line of frustrated customers who had been waiting since about 5 PM with no agent at the counter. A Budget/Avis porter said he didn’t know where the agent was, and the only thing on the desk was a sign saying “Will be back in 10 minutes.” Many customers had already been waiting 45 minutes to over an hour. When the agent finally returned (only because someone went to find her), she stayed in the back for another 5 minutes before coming out.
