Budget Car Rental

This is the only Budget Rent a Car in Cape Coral (714 SW Pine Island Rd), and it was a total nightmare. We arrived for our pickup and there was a huge line of people waiting—only ONE employee working the counter, moving at a snail's pace. We stood there for what felt like forever (easily 45+ minutes) just to get to the front. When we finally did, the guy had the worst attitude imaginable—rude, short, and dismissive from the second we started talking. We tried to pay with Cash App (something we've used successfully at other rentals), but he refused to accept it outright, acted like it was suspicious or impossible, and gave us zero helpful alternatives or explanation—just pure attitude that made the whole thing unbearable. DO NOT RENT A VEHICLE FROM BUDGET/AVIS CAPE CORAL. I wish I looked at these reviews before renting a car from them for our Florida Vacation. The amount of hidden fees nearly doubled from the price we paid online and that's not even the worst part. The real kicker was after returning home from our vacation. 2-3 weeks later I get an email with a Letter of Demand from Budget/Avis claiming I damaged the vehicle and owed them $964. We returned the vehicle to the airport rental lot attendant who had a tablet and did his check in report. We were sent an email with the final bill and given the all clear. Absolutely worst experience ever with a rental company. First off, reserved a vehicle, pre paid for it 3 weeks in advance. Upon going to pick it up, I was told they had nothing 7 seater beside a minivan. And that there were no other vehicles in the area similar. Additionally, I dropped off the vehicle on 10/13/2025. I am now receiving a bill in the mail for $609 claiming there was glass damage. There was absolutely no damage upon dropping the vehicle off. Now claiming I have to show proof there was no damage. Why would I think to take photos of the car when there was no damage? Apparently now going forward I will always document vehicle video and photos at exact moment I return it. NEVER RENTING FROM THIS PLACE AGAIN!!! BE AWARE

Can’t give ZERO stars. Rented here 2 times due to location-convenience. First time SUV was filthy. Second time tried renting a pickup and when I arrived the guy said he hasn’t seen one in 3 years. He said there are way more reservations than he has vehicles. Line was 20 people long - 1 overwhelmed employee. Rent elsewhere!!!

Very enjoyable rental experience. Nice, new vehicle, at a competitive price.
