Budget Car Rental

I was told by Budget at Gainesville Airport location after they forgot to have a Premium Elite SUV for my 4 month earlier reservation, that if I transferred their Jeep Wagoner to this location, This place had a Chevy Suburban ready for my rental as a substitute. Upon arrival the man at the counter said: Here are the keys, go look & smell it, I’m sure you won’t want it & be happy to keep the Jeep instead. I said: “What!?! I have to have a full size SUV like I reserved as I must transport my entire family to a wedding- this is my gift for the Groom for his wedding, My husband and I driving them & their parents around in a Premium Elite SUV!” He said: My wife and I haven’t done a thing with this Chevy Suburban since it got turned into us a while ago! It’s been wrecked, is filthy inside & out

Do not reserve a car here. They will let you pay ahead of time without actually having any rentals available. This is the second time its happend. The first time I tried using them they at least called me the day prior to let me know but this time they inform me as we were getting ready to go get it. Extremely frustrating and unprofessional company to deal with. I dont usually write bad reviews but I felt the need to warn other people because this is crazy screwing sombodys entire plans and wallet up like this on two separate occasions in a row.

Renters beware there is a 29 minute grace period on returning your rental. I was 3 minutes beyond that and was charged for an additional day. I was not told this and didn't know anything about the charge until I saw my credit card charges. I spent 30 minutes on the phone with Budget's corporate office to get most of it refunded. There are other rental companies around that make this a lot easier. Save yourself a hassle and rent elsewhere.

I had a reservation with budget but the airline cancelled a flight and the new flight did not land until about 11p. I called the budget number and they assured me that although the website said the counter in Gainesville FL closed at 10p, they stayed open until the last plane arrived and were usually there until 11p. Well, NO. The plane was early and I was at the counter at 10:45p with about 8 other people who had been told the same thing. Very disappointing after an already long day. I needed to get a car but since I had not changed my reservation within 72 hours of pick up, could not get a refund. I had called budget the minute I learned of the plane change. So not a good experience.

Where do start…. First off I don’t ever complain and I’m actually pretty good about giving people the benefit of the doubt. I arrived on Saturday to pick up my car that was confirmed via text and email and I online checked in only to be told by a smiling representative who was also laughing that he called my phone at 7:30 in the morning and left a message that the reservation was canceled. I said I didn’t get that message. Couldn’t someone have emailed me and texted me as well and he just laughed and said no I left you a message at 7:30. I asked the employee what is your name and he said”Harris” and that’s all you’re getting. Proceed with caution if you rent here. If there is a guy with a tattooed arm sleeve named Haris, tell him Rob says hello.
