Budget Car Rental

I haven't had problems in the past, but this time was the worst experience I've had. The rental had not been cleaned and was dirty inside and out. It had stained seats, dirty and dust everywhere on the inside, mud splatter on the outside and the license plate was caved in. Hopefully this doesn't happen to anyone else.

Arrived at the hobby airport Budget location only to find they had zero cars. The lady working the counter walked through the line asking people to show their rental confirmations. Everyone she checked had theirs. We stood in line waiting for 30 minutes until someone in line told the reps at the counter to be honest and announce they had no cars. It wasn't until then the lady made the announcement. Everyone had to make other last minute areangements close to 1am. As we were headed out, an airport shuttle bus pulled up with more renters only to be told the same bad news so that they, too, could make other arrangements. They told everyone to come back at 6am when they open or wait until 7am when the manager arrives. When we asked if there would be any cars by then, they said they dont know.

1. Health Hazard - Roaches In My Rental. They Didn't Come Out Until We Were Almost An Hour And A Half Away. 2. Fraudulent Charges - I Was Charged For Gas, Although I Rented An Electrical Vehicle. 3. Overpayment - Was Given An Exchange Vehicle Which Was A Downgrade From What I Payed For. 4. Customer Service - Jailyn Was Very Passive Aggressive And We Didn’t Even Get An Apology For The Hassle We Went Through. Getting the Rental Was Smooth, However, The Hassle Of Trying To Exchange And Return The Vehicle Has Deterred Me From Budget In The Future. After Reading Others Reviews, I Think This Location May Need To Hear From The BBB.

I had a very frustrating experience with Budget Car Rental in Houston. At the airport, I was explicitly told that I could drop the vehicle off at any Houston airport location. Houston has two major airports, so I assumed this would not be an issue. When I returned the car to the other Houston airport (not Hobby), I was hit with a $300 drop-off fee that was never clearly disclosed upfront. On top of that, there were charges for every little thing. What was supposed to be a $79 rental ended up costing me $504. I also learned (after the fact) that if you go over your booking time, they charge $9 per hour, plus additional fees. These policies are not made clear when you book or when you pick up the car. Excellent service, very courteous staff, not having the full size car them all offered an upgrade to Minivan for free. Return service was as well as efficient. Frequent shuttles from and to the HOBBY Airport. The only reason for the 4 star, when it came to extending by one day them all as in Budget charges full price for the upgraded car. Again it is not customers fault that there no car available of the size that was reserved. It would be nice if Budget Car Rental car company would accommodate this atleast with in few days forward time frame price of the original vehicle that was quoted or send someone to exchange if local to where rental facility is located.
