Budget Car Rental

Picked up a rental last Wednesday. When I got in the car and turned it on, it said needs oil change on the dash board. Told the person at the counter, and ge said you take it to a local car shop, get oil changed and they would bill budget. Really??? Was on the phone for 2 hours with customer service about this. Finally they agreed we could switch cars, and would refund us one days rental fee for our time and trouble. The counter person had said there wasnt any others available in the size we need. But when we went back, there was one. Still haven't seen this the refund. And it looked like it hadn't been cleaned.

Talk about the worst rental experience of my life. After having the best customer service in Denver we arrive here after our 18hr trip to renew our agreement. Everything was handled online and we thought it’d be straightforward. Not knowing this guy (Manager supposedly) would be the biggest headache in the world.. first he said the systems were down. Then the original vehicle we were picking up wasn’t even existent. So he said we could keep the current vehicle we’re in. Didn’t specify he would be closing the account and tagging on a new deposit as well as a credit card being needed. Once confronted he said that he explained it thoroughly before canceling and at that point there was no reason to argue. Then he locks us out of the car on the way out. Do not trust they have any cars or trucks they claim when you make your reservation. I wish I had checked the reviews before wasting my time. Don't even trust that you will get the type of vehicle you reserved. I rented a luxury sedan (Cadillac CT5), and they tried giving me a crossover suv because they didn't have a luxury sedan(or similar) car. I made weekend plans for a romantic road trip with my wife on her birthday, and thought the luxury sedan would be a perfect separation from the family van and suv we drive daily. We live local, and we made the best of it with our family van, but imagine if we flew in. Worst experience ever. Counter was closed am Avis worked on our reservation. I sat at the airport for over 10 hours with my 3-month-old baby and still didn’t get a car. After we finally gave up that night, we had to come back the next day. The manager Wally was rude, cold, and completely heartless. They kept giving us random excuses like “the internet is down,” “the system isn’t working,” “your booking number doesn’t show up,” and a bunch of other things that made no sense. Budget Hotline tried to work with him to figure out the issue but he refused! This person needs to be fired! Eventually we found out from other rental counters that this kind of thing actually happens a lot with them. That was the moment everything clicked. We will never go to this counter again. Made the reservation early summer for October rental. Arrived at AZO on time to hear the system is down. We wanted a Jeep grand Cherokee or Traverse. Rude agent seemed uncaring and only had a minivan for us to use. It was horrible, we aren’t small people and needed the vehicle today- there was another couple standing there at 1pm for their 4pm slot. I asked for an upgrade-usually Abis foes this but not budget, who was at the abis counter. Rude agent says the minivan is all I have- they’re sending all my cars to Houston. Not OUR problem! We walk out yo the vehicle to see the other couple who arrived 3 hrs early go to a Tahoe Denali!🤬that should’ve been our upgrade and they should’ve gotten the van.
