Budget Car Rental

The Budget/Avis rental at the Newport News Airport is under new management and they are giving excellent customer service.Friendly, reliable, with easy rental process, having your car ready on time. The manager (Saron) took care of a minor problem with the car. She quickly switched me to an upgrade new vehicle. They will go out of their way to assure you have your needs met.

I have always used this location to book rentals when we went out of town, this last experience has definitely helped me make the decision to never book with them again. I rented the car 2 weeks before we left for the trip, to make sure the car I needed was available. When I arrived to pick up the rental they did not have the SUV I needed. I was given something much smaller than needed. Lucky for me, my son went down before we did so it gave us a little space for the long 12 hour drive. Although, I knew we would not be able to get back in the small vehicle with all of us. We had to leave family during the holiday weekend to drive another 2 hours to switch out the car, so that the whole family could drive back comfortably. Unreliable is right. Booking was very quick and easy through the official Budget website. I got a confirmation text saying my car was reserved, and then another later stating it was ready to pick up. So we arrive at the counter at the designated time, ready and eager to get to our destination. The rude and unconcerned agent told us there were no cars available. Ummm, what, how, huh?? She then said we can try to change the booking to another day... so we stood there waiting for her to assist us with this. She was no help at all, just gave us number to call. The nice customer service agent on the phone couldn't get us a car in the time we needed but at least she helped cancel the reservation and issue a full refund. ***BEWARE*** This location will rent you an unsafe vehicle! I picked up a vehicle late Thursday night. Friday morning as me and my family begun our trip I notice the tire air light came on. I went ahead and inflated the tires thinking it was just low for some reason and not a big deal. Drove to Atlanta to go to my Uncle funeral and while driving around in Atlanta the light comes on again. This time when putting in air I notice a nail in the back tire, but i also was losing air in the front as well. Customer service told me that I could swap the vehicle out but at that time all of the locations were closed and the airport was over 30 miles away and I was doing the funeral things with family.
