Budget Car Rental

My partner and I had to travel to my hometown to handle some family crises, so we decided to try renting from Budget, to stick within our finances, even though we had been cautioned to go with Enterprise. The associate only offered the fuel option, but not any additional insurance protection, which I didn’t even know was a thing until I got to a more reputable rental company the next week, but we’ll get to that a little later. Additionally, they had two staff on hand and no one else in line, so they very well could (AND SHOULD) have gone out with us and done an inspection of the car. Saturday night the 10th we were heading down the NYS Thruway, on our way back from visiting my parents, minding the speed limit, when all of the sudden the rear driver-side tire blew, sending my partner & I “

Was provided a car that was unsafe to drive. Bird poop all over windshield. Was told fuel was full, it wasn't. I tried calling the office multiple days and times, and, literally, they have never answered the phone, always rolls over to 1-800 #. Manager was beyond rude, basically calling me a liar about condition of vehicle and fuel amount. Two other budget offices trash-talked this one. 0/10 do not recommend. Addendum. Budget offered a $30 credit for delivering an unsafe vehicle that nearly cause an accident which could have resulted in loss of life. This company is so shameful.

Wait what?! I picked up a rental (Toyota Corolla) and I want to start off with saying, the woman who assisted me with completing the rental purchase in person at this location was nice. I needed to drop off a vehicle of a family member back to their home location and needed to leave the rental in the parking lot at Avis so I can come back to pick it up. However, before, during, or after our check out there were no previous damage reports provided to me, or a sheet of a damage report check given to me, which I have received in the past, with Avis, as well as Hertz. Usually with that information I am prompted to check the vehicle before leaving. Picked up a pickup truck for the week. Damage all over, raw food in bed that I had to clean before I could use. Then the warning lights starting coming on to include service electronic breaking system, trailer brakes and recalls. The tires were bald and noisy. At checkout they tried to charge me fuel fee of $170. Said it was only half full, I said that’s how I got it and was told I should have taken a picture. Unreal. Never rent from here!

I made an online reservation for 8/9 on 7/23. At that time, my card was charged for the reservation fee. I continued to get email and text alerts reminding me of my reservation, yet it wasn't until 3.5 hours prior to my pick up that I received a call informing me that there was no vehicle for me. My call was escalated to three different people, who offered no assistance. The best alternative was for ME to cancel the reservation that THEY were unable to honor, and then be faced with a $150 cancellation fee. Then I was told that I could drive 30 minutes farther to pick up a vehicle that would cost twice as much as my original reservation. Horrible customer service, and I will tell every person I can. You should go out of business, Budget.
