Budget Car Rental

Update: I want to thank Ms. Castle from Budget for reaching out to me directly and making this right. I appreciate that I reserved a compact and they only had a giant Chrysler minivan or a huge Suburban. For just me. Had the audacity for charge me $6 for the less than a gallon of gas used from the gas station to the airport the day I dropped it off. Someone else I was on this trip with had to return her vehicle on the second day because the engine light came on and causing issues.

This is a busy airport and the my only have one agent helping with a very slow system to process payments. It takes more than an hour to get through the lines. This is combined Avis and Budget. Recurrent delays and poor efficiency from these rental companies. Don’t blame the actual person at desk but leaders behind this mess.

Reserved a 12 passenger Ford van 1.5~2 months prior, and when I came to pick it up I was told that they did not have my van. Offered a 15 seater GMC, but when I got home I saw that it was missing the rear 4 seats row, van was dirty (including a melted chocolate on the dash) and most important - the side door was dangerously difficult to open (getting stuck). Drove back the van and showed those issues, but was told that there's no replacement for me but to accept 2 vans, which wasn't an option - I intentionally reserved the 12 seater. Due to the existing plans, we had to still drive it, but the drive and the travel overall wasn't comfortable and pleasant. I am beyond upset. I reserved a 3rd-row SUV back on September 11, 2025. I even called 12/24 to confirm and was told everything was fine and that a Ford Explorer or similar would be ready. We show up 12/25, wait over an hour in line, and then I’m told they don’t have the SUV and to come back later. We come back two hours later, wait another hour and a half, and STILL they don’t have the car I reserved. The only thing they offered was a minivan, which I did NOT want. I asked for a discount because this completely messed with our plans and vacation time, and they said no. Just “sorry.” Sorry doesn’t give me back my time or fix the stress they caused. What’s the point of reserving and confirming a car MONTHS in advance if Budget doesn’t honor it? This ruined part of our vacation and caused

I can't rank them a zero. I filled out the car rental on-line weeks prior to my reservation. I landed in San Antonio and found that I had to stop at the counter to check in. 7or 8 other people in line to verify what I had already done, filled in information prior on THEIR computer system. 2 lower energy counter checkers slow-walked and chewed the fat with each other rather than get the PAYING CLIENTS their cars. 35 minutes after getting in line, I was given my car. Early on the second day we were headed to Boerne, the car started making an horrible noise. It sounded like a snow plow. I pulled over and noted the under carriage (plastic) had fallen down and was scraping the ground, also making a drumming beat as we were on the highway. In town, people were staring at us. I was not
