Budget Car Rental

I booked a rental from Budget while home in Trinidad because I knew I would be in Stamford. When I got there in person, everything was so smooth. No confusion about who I was or what I wanted. I drove a Mazda CX 30. It took me a minute to get familiar with the vehicle, but once I did, and I hit the road, it was smooth sailing. I'd definitely recommend and rent from here again when I'm in Stamford.

My appt was for a 12 pm pickup. I was late arriving. They informed me my standard size Vehicle was not ready. After 30 minutes waiting they handed me keys and asked that I walk around the corner to get my vehicle. I didn't know until I hit the FOB key and realized I was given a gas guzzler large VW Atlas. Gas in CT and NY is expensive. I was very frustrated by the situation and opted not to go back in.

Had a reservation. The pickup went smoothly and the employee was very nice and patient. I had to wait about 20 minutes, but the car was nice. With time and mileage, I ended up paying about $70 more than what I prepaid for when I dropped it off the next day.

Extremely disappointing experience. I was charged a $50 late drop-off fee despite my confirmed booking clearly stating a return time of 6:00 PM. When I arrived on time, the location was already closed due to Memorial Day hours — closing at 4:00 PM. At no point during the booking process or in any communication was this early closure disclosed. It’s unreasonable to penalize customers for something that was neither communicated nor reasonably expected. On top of that, I was also charged a $20 parking fee in Boston, which I was explicitly told would be deducted from the final bill. It was not. To make matters worse, the on-site representative, Garfield (Lercy), was incredibly unprofessional. I arrived at the location as a last-minute walk-in on a Friday, hoping to rent a 15-passenger vehicle. I was fortunate to meet Lercy and her coworker, who were by far the kindest people I’ve encountered at a car rental agency. They went above and beyond to assist me, demonstrating exactly how customers should be treated—even total strangers—by doing everything within their power to help.
