Broke down a block away. Wanted $200 to even look at my car that they told me does NOT go toward repairs. Don’t give this selfish shop your business. Plenty of other places in the area are much more accommodating. EDIT based on response from the shop: No, I did not ask for a mobile mechanic. I explained my situation that I had broke down less than a block away and asked for any advice on how to get my car to your shop. Which you refused to help with. In terms of your nonrefundable $200 diagnostic fee, that’s absolutely ridiculous. I found three other places within walking distance that put their (cheaper) diagnostic fee toward repairs, as almost every shop does. I was struggling in finding an honest, skilled, let alone trustworthy auto shop. I found out about Carotech Automotive while Google searching for the issue my car was having. The reviews that I read recommended me to call and ask for Gary which is what I did and all I can say is that Gary was beyond kind and fair with the pricing. He immediately diagnosed what was wrong with my car (my intake manifold had to be completely replaced as well as valve cleaning). Gary and his team did a phenomenal job with my car that I can say without a doubt that I'll be bringing my car here at Carotech for all future repairs as well as general maintenance. The response to this review will be that they charged me for a diagnosis. I had to get my car towed here because it would not drive. They told me it would be $190 for a diagnosis and then they let me know that my car was having issues with the axle. They were hesitant on doing any work as I had recently replaced my transmission and they recommended I go to the mechanic that changed the transmission. They then told me I should be able to drive the car “slowly” to my mechanic. They charged and handed me the keys to go. The diagnosis in fact was not worth the price as they pushed me and let me get in a car they knew shouldn’t be driven and put my life in danger. Between now and when i write the full review, i have a very simple piece of advice for anyone reading this. Call Carotech Auto, ask Gary when you can drop off your car and then trust him and his expert team to fix your car properly, for an extremely fair price and with the best warranty I've encountered from any auto mechanic shop in my life. Do not bother wasting time reading other reviews. This place is absolutely without compare the best auto repair shop in LA. Thank you Gary. Recommended I replace my radiator fans and module without bothering to check the fuse or condition of the wires. Quoted me $1600 to fix the issue. Cost me $50 in electrical equipment to fix the issue. Surprising given they usually do fantastically well at diagnosing issues.
