Dollar Car Rental - Tucson International Airport

I arrived on Friday morning the 13th of February. I prepaid through Expedia only to be met with very abrupt, and less than friendly customer service, who informed me with a rude tone that I would have a hard check on my credit, be charged $500 because I was using a debit card, and I needed to refill with fuel at least 10 miles out before returning it and if I didnt agree or meet the qualifications, I would not be getting a car. Keep in mind, I had already paid for this rental through Expedia. I was spoken to like I was a criminal for using a debit card. My husband died just a few months ago, and I didnt want to use our credit cards while sorting out his affairs! I somehow passed the criteria! Yay me! My flight arrived late around 10pm, I had been flying over 24 hours with my two cats. I tired and having a lot of issues with the rental car. Josh assisted me over 3 hours trying to find different solutions. We eventually got it figured out and I appreciated his help so much. I strongly believe that without him being here I wouldn’t have been able to get a rental. Just moved here from Germany and I needed my own car to get on base, find my new car, and get an apartment without relying on others. Josh helped me so much and was so kind and patient doing so. (Ps I did leave my key on the rental keys when I turned them in and submitted a lost report. It’s a small gold key, but so far they haven’t found anything. Seems like a good lost and found system that keeps giving me updates at least.)

Rented a car for about a month and turned it in a week early. I asked the counter before I Rented the car if I would be able to recuperate some of my money if I turned in the car early. Got told yes and after I turned it in, I was charged for the days I didnt use the car plus tax that wasn't originally calculated. I now have a pending 102 charge from them that I don't know what is for yet. Also, the car had water in the washer fluid reservoir, so the line froze when I took the car to a snowy state. Back seat also had a half drank water bottle in the back, but I wrote that off day 1 hoping for a better experience. Wouldn't suggest this Dollar to anyone.

Customer service representative was very nice and simply doing his job but I was quite upset with the overall experience of Dollar Car Rental and conveyed that to him. They sent me an email ahead of the rental day saying save time by checking in and uploading your drivers license, etc. But when you arrive, you still stand in line, get asked to provide your drivers license and credit card and go through the exact same process as if you hadn’t wasted time uploading earlier. They try to use scare tactics to get you to buy their overpriced insurance, do not fall for this. Most insurance companies cover rentals (verify with yours first before declining optional coverage), you can also buy insurance through online booking agencies that is cheaper.
