Dollar Rent A Car

I'm gonna give this four stars cause when I booked, I opted for the Managers Special. I didn't know that meant I was gonna be forced into getting an electric vehicle. I read that a few times in the reviews but I thought I'd be an exception. Nope. I insisted I didn't want an electric vehicle nor did I know anything about them. Luckily for me, the agent was kind and gave me an automatic BUT I had to pay an extra $20. The car I was assigned was super clean. It ran well. It was spacious enough for my bags. I'd rent from here again but never opt for their Managers Special when booking in advance.

This was the worst rental experience of my life. Bird poop was on the passenger side of the car. I couldn't connect my android phone to the vehicle. The chaged me for insurance that I did not want. I lost my Samsung charger in a hole in the middle console. I have called every day for 5 days and I am not getting help. You have lost a custom for life. You should only have a half of star.

Terrible they only one worker at the rental station last weekend, handling a line of over 12+ people by herself! I and others arrived around 12pm so I didn't get my rental car until after 1p while I landed at 11:20am insanely ridiculous! She was great enough to upgrade me. But before that didn't realize all LGA rental companies like Dollar were so far off-site! The shuttle wait at the airport was ridiculous and took about 20 minutes, insane waste of time then seeing orher company shuttles just pass us by! Wasted so much of my time and ruined the rest of my day - making me late for brunch, and then museum, Broadway show etc in the city . Really I deserve a refund. I will not rent a car with Dollar ever again and it was not my first choice as the other company I prefer was not available.

Location closes at 9:30pm. The shuttle picked us up at 8:50pm and made the call to the rental place asking if he should take us to dollar car rental or to hertz. The employee answered to drop us off at hertz and they will honor our booking. When we were dropped off at Hertz, the employees stated that we had to wait until the manager arrived to honor our booking because dollar’s system is completely different than Hertz. They do not have an ETA on when the manager will arrive 😭

I had an incredible experience with Mohammed Uddin at the Dollar Car Rental location in Astoria (LGA). After returning my rental, I accidentally left behind a brand-new knife set worth over $300. I didn’t even realize it until later — and I was already out of town. When I reached out, Mohammed immediately stepped in, secured the package, and personally made sure it didn’t get misplaced. What truly impressed me was the level of care and ownership he took. He coordinated with me while I arranged a UPS pickup, followed up when the location was closed for the holiday, and ultimately went out of his way to personally drop the package off so it could be shipped back to me safely. That kind of integrity and customer service is rare. Mohammed didn’t treat it like “just another lost item” — he t
