Durham Village Garage

I recently visited Durham Village Garage for a brake fluid service and state inspection (img1). I want to emphasize that the staff were incredibly friendly, professional, and welcoming. I genuinely had a good experience communicating with them. However, I noticed a discrepancy between the service listed on my receipt and the actual work performed. My car is over 6 years old. Even though the fluid wasn't terribly dirty, I wanted a full flush to ensure any old, moisture-absorbed fluid was removed from the brake lines for safety maintenance. My receipt explicitly listed a "Brake Hydraulic System Drain, Refill & Bleed." However, after the service, I inspected the bleeder screws on the calipers and they did not appear to have been opened or touched (img5-6). The fluid color in the reservoir

I’ve been here several times and have always had a great experience. As an out-of-state college student, it means a lot to feel so taken care of and know I can trust where I’m bringing my car. They’ve replaced my water pump and thermostat, and every time, their prices have been extremely reasonable. Everyone is kind, honest, and communicative. I highly recommend!

I had trouble replacing my headlight on my own so I popped over and they took my car in right away without me calling ahead. They were done within about 15 minutes! It was great and the woman at the front desk is super kind.

I can’t say enough good things about this shop. It’s so hard to find an honest, reliable mechanic these days, but this place is the real deal. They took the time to explain everything in a way that actually made sense, didn’t pressure me into unnecessary repairs, and got the job done quickly. The pricing was fair, the communication was great, and I genuinely felt like my car was in good hands. It’s such a relief to have a mechanic you can trust. Highly recommend to anyone looking for solid, honest work. I’ve been coming for years and won’t go anywhere else!

DO NOT COME HERE unless you want to be overcharged and pay for things you don't actually need. I brought my car in because I knew the brakes needed to be done, the quoted me $1,444.93 for front and rear brakes and rotors. $766.52 for the front and $678.41 for the rear. I knew immediately that this was an outrageous number and I declined this service. They told me the condition of the front AND rear brakes were unsafe and they needed to be replaced. I was able to be squeezed in with my usual mechanic that I see and the difference is going to shock you. They told me my front brakes needed to be done 100% BUT that my rear brakes were fine, a little rusty, but they said they would last AT LEAST another 6 months. They charged me $550.00 for the front brakes, compared to Durham Villages $766.52.
