I spoke to Al at Fargo Automotive and Transmission. He came very highly recommended around town as the place to go if you need transmission work. He was very knowledgeable, up front, and provided me an estimate that ended up being very accurate. I would absolutely recommend you go to Fargo Automotive and Transmission with any transmission related issues.

I took my wifes 2016 expedition to Fargo automotive after I got quoted 5000$ for a whole new transmission from another shop. within 10 minutes of being on the phone with Al he had an idea of what the problem was and told me to drop the truck off, the next day we were able to drive the truck home with the problem fixed for only 900$ instead of $5000! great service and great knowledge! Will definitely be taking all my vehicles back here.

They're all very nice people here, and the price was incredibly reasonable. Maybe my overall experience was atypical. However, everything after the initial drop off was not confidence inspiring. I called ahead and asked if they could install an aftermarket transmission into my vehicle, which they assured me could be done. I dropped off the vehicle, and the installation was really quick. Afterward however, when I asked if they could ship my old transmission back to the shop to cover the core charge, they acted like I had asked them to move a mountain. I said I would still cover the shipping cost, I just have no idea about freight shipping or how any of that works, and they still said "no, no I think you should do that" almost like they were afraid. Great experience with Al over at fargo auto and transmission. Rebuilt my transmission for half the price it was gonna cost for remanufactured. Best price in town, I called around. Al is fair, honest, and a great mechanic. Highly recommend

Called multiple places to price check, happened to come across Al’s number from a good friend. I Happened to call him on his off time yet he was still very professional. He quoted $400 cheaper then everywhere else to rebuild my 4l60e with a 2 day turn around. So I Took my truck to him because my 3rd to 4th gear clutches were burnt out, and he called me 2 days later to come pick it up and it was like driving a new truck.. couldn’t have been any more happy.. he even warranties his work for a year so that was icing on the cake.. will definitely be hanging on to his number for future reference
