Used a screwdriver or something and marked up a bumper removing it, employee tried to claim that’s how the bumper is supposed to be. I had before photos. Used a screwdriver to removed a plastic cover and not only didn’t reinstall it, but scratched the plastic like crazy. Also messed up a seal on a taillight (pretty much the only mistake that could’ve happened with an expert). To top it all off they tried to give me my car back with a paint run, which I had to make them fix, and they broke my rear diffuser. Were my problems fixed? Well yes, after numerous emails, phone calls, even in person visits, and 8 months. Wayne is the WORST General Manager I’ve ever seen and the staff is just as incompetent if not worse! For one he is never available to speak with you when you have an issue. He tells his staff to tell you he’s in a meeting or will call you back meanwhile he’s just out in the shop smoking cigarettes laughing and joking. They will knowingly break things on your vehicle to total it out completely and not deal with the headache and they do NOT honor lifetime warranties. If they do it will be a crappy and subpar job like the rest of the work. These techs break so much stuff on your car and then give you the run around after you have picked it up. I had a pleasant experience with Gerber! I spent a couple weeks driving around the city getting quotes on how much it would cost to fix the back part of my car (driver's side) & a broken taillight. Gerber's quote was the most reasonable and pretty much spot on as far as the estimate my insurance company suggested as well. I first brought my car to the Gerber location in Decatur and the customer service rep was very helpful! She was courteous, understanding and very transparent about how the process would go. I was hit pretty badly back in late September. The other car was totaled and mine was barely hanging in there. USAA worked with Gerber to get my car in the shop in about 2 weeks. Unfortunately, with the current craziness in the supply chain, my car had been in the shop for about 2 months getting repairs while waiting on back ordered parts. Mary gave me constant text and call updates to give me progress in the vehicle! While the wait is if course hard everywhere at this time, I appreciated the transparency and being kept up to date. Shop was way behind schedule. Took more than a month to replace the windshield and hood of my vehicle, which was much longer than estimated. Communication grew less and less as the estimated time grew longer and longer. Asked for supplemental insurance to be approved, then never used it through my insurance company (which delayed the process). Meanwhile, I'm without a car. Will not be back or recommend.
