G&G Mechanic Shop

We were traveling from CA to SD on a Saturday morning and my check engine light came on a few miles before we were approaching Rock Springs WY. Engine was definitely missing some out of the 8. I took the chance and headed to G&G. We arrived and I pulled my truck in the shop within 10 minutes. He was able to troubleshoot the problem, wires were shorting on 3 and 8 with dirty spark plugs. They did a great job on my car and though they did more work than what they quoted me on price he didn't upcharge. If you want a trustworthy place to have you vehicle worked on I highly recommend them.

They really saved my ass on a road trip this last weekend. The batteries (plural!) in my van died while at a gas station in Rock Springs and O’reilley’s recommended to have new batteries be installed by a professional. At that point I was panicked thinking I was going to have a hard time finding a shop open on a Saturday. I asked the worker at O’reilley’s and he recommended G&G. I gave them a call and they told me to come right over, they could fit me in. We get there and figure out that the battery they sent me with was the wrong size but the guys at G&G called O’reilley’s for me and had them deliver the correct size and took care of everything. Had oil change and some minor brake work done here. Despite calling ahead and giving VIN number 2 days prior, no parts were ready and they were surprised to see us. So an hour of actually working on the car took them 3, and we were just waiting around. Shop rate is 125 USD an hour and they don’t tell you before, and they wouldn’t give me a clear quote for the work in advance. So all in all, the mechanical work was done well and the car drives great, but the whole experience was average.

We were headed home from out west when our engine lost power. We had it towed to G&G, and Nelson promptly diagnosed the problem. We needed to replace the engine. Nelson quoted us a price for the labor plus parts. I located an engine out of California and had it shipped to G&G. When it arrived, Nelson sent me photos of it and some parts that were damaged when it was removed in California. Nelson removed the usable parts from my original engine and used his ingenuity to modify some that were not available locally, saving me extra time waiting on shipping. He could have charged me hundreds if not thousands of dollars nickel-and-diming me for parts and extra labor.
