Hertz Car Rental - Orem - South State Street

I made a reservation and they gave me a confirmation number. The day of pick up the tell me they don’t have a car. I called the 800 number and asked them what is going on… why would they allow me to book when there are no cars available. The customer service tells me there are cars but there are no at the price I paid… that I have to pay more…. I pay more to upgrade the vehicle… they tell me you will have a car at the location… I triple check with her asking her if she called the location itself… she tell me yes just go and pick up your car… I go to the location and surprise there are no cars available… I am now with my kids… one of them is sick… I asked the lady to at least pay for my Uber or whatever to get me back to my hotel. She says no I cannot do that and there is nothing Hertz can

Mother in law reserved a car online for a scheduled pickup on Saturday. No problem, thought we were in the clear to pick it up when Saturday rolled around. Friday night, 10 minutes before they close, my mother in law gets a call saying they don’t have any more cars, AND they’re closed tomorrow, so even if they did have a car, they’d be closed anyways. So how does their online system allow people to book a car for a day they’re not even open? And how can they give out the car that was already reserved? We tried to talk to the lady and were reasonably frustrated, but never rude, and she snapped back very quickly with “Look, I’m trying to be nice but you’re making it hard”. Reservation for a vehicle pickup - date and time. The location isn’t even open that day and is setting us back. This is the sort of incompetence that you would hope to avoid with a rental car company but seems to be the same low-quality standards as you’d expect. Now giving us the runaround and making us pay more. This all seems like it could be avoided with a more efficient system of reservations. Completely useless customer service.

The car we rented had some issues that weren't apparent when we picked it up. Tire inflation was way off. The two passenger side tires were almost at 50 psi (inside car door said they should be 35 psi cold). The driver side front was at 25 psi and back was at 35 psi). Once we figured this out we just stopped at a gas station to equalize but I did have to buy a tire gauge (not the end of the world). On the way home at the end of our trip 6 days later the transmission started to slip on any inclines (vehicle was 2024 with 20k miles). We were still 200 miles from home so called Hertz. We were directed to stop at a major airport 150 miles away to change vehicles. This added 90 minutes to our drive home (we had already been in the car for nearly 12 hours). This was ridiculous. My husband went to rent an electric car from them. The car was damaged the day before(not their fault) but they neglected to call us about because her words were (it was the end of the day) so what I got from that was she just wanted to get home. We got there at 8:45 in the morning to pick up the car. We walked in and she told us is was damaged and couldn’t be driven. We mentioned to her that a call would’ve been great and she said “we are not aloud to call before 8am” but it was 8:45 by the time we got there. So ridiculous if they would’ve called us the morning of or the night it got returned to them we would’ve been able to find a new Tesla but since they didn’t we are now stuck without a rental for our trip.
