This was an awful rental. When I first arrived at the rental location; I was told I had to drive the vehicle over the curb to get the vehicle out of the parking lot. The windows were down and the seats were covered in water when I picked up the vehicle. The tires were almost completely balled and I called almost every day to get a new vehicle. They didn’t have a vehicle for me to switch it out with. I couldn’t drive the vehicle in the rain because it would start to slide all over the road. Utah rained almost every day for those two weeks and I had to catch a ride with someone else because the car was unusable. Calling customer support was almost impossible. I’ve rented from the Hertz branch on South Main Street in Salt Lake City multiple times, and my experiences have consistently been excellent. In 2025, I rented twice, first driving from Salt Lake City to Las Vegas and back, and another time from Salt Lake City all the way to San Francisco and back. On both occasions I even received vehicle upgrades, and the staff were professional, courteous, and very helpful. This most recent rental was initiated by Kiera, who handled the contract smoothly and efficiently. During my earlier rentals, Josh assisted me throughout the process, and he once again stepped in this time when I had an issue with my debit card. As always, he was outstanding from start to finish. App showing the newest Tesla Model 3 white color image, and when I went to pick up the Tesla, it was a 2022 Tesla Model 3 blue color in poor condition. It had broken parts and a broken steering wheel. I asked for an exchange, but all 3 Teslas were old models in poor condition and low battery. However, Josh provided good service and patience.

I had a very positive experience with this location. The service was efficient, with pickup taking under ten minutes. The transparent return inspection process eliminated unexpected fees. I rented a small sedan and ended up getting a new, comfortable SUV. The pricing was competitive, approximately 30% less than airport locations.

I would give this location zero stars if I could. My family and I had to wait 40mins for a car even after making a reservation more than a month in advance. On top of that, we received a car that was absolutely filthy from inside. There was some sticky substance on the drivers seat between the headrest and the seat. My hair got stuck to it really badly. The car we received also needed an oil change and this Hertz location didn’t care to get it serviced in time. The manager Josh also tried to overcharge us for a full day. When we were picking up the car, he printed our estimated charge sheet and with a departure of 1pm on Friday, Oct 3rd and return time of 1:30pm on Friday, Oct 10th, thereby booking us for a full extra day.
