Hertz Car Rental - Santa Barbara - Santa Barbara Airport (SBA)

Bad reviews are not my thing,honesty is. Shame on you Hertz of SBA. This was one of the most unacceptable travel experiences I’ve ever had, and it completely destroyed any trust I had in Hertz. Our flight was delayed, and we stayed in contact with Hertz to keep them informed. We were reassured that someone would be there to help us when we arrived. Based on that promise, we felt confident our reservation would be honored. Instead, we arrived to find the location closed — **even though the last flight of the evening had not yet arrived.** Multiple families, including ours, were left standing outside with luggage and no transportation. Thank you Hertz for being so flexible and patient. Sometimes, I do not know how long I am going to need the car when I go to my jobs. This time around - I had to reschedule twice and I truly appreciate your flexibility. The car was clean, nice, drove smooth and fast. The representative was very easy going when making the changes to the reservation.

Usually simple excellent service but not this time. Return was logged 6.5 hours late resulting in extra day charge and charged for fuel even though returned full. tried to resolve through Hertz’s “customer service” AI but it doesn’t have access to line item detail. I spent 40 minutes waiting for a human agent but none picked up. Not recommended at all. EDIT: Case resolved after investing an hour with Hertz’s customer service AI and waiting on hold for the call center. The lesson is to deal with the friendly local team in closing out rentals, and not relying on what used to be a quick and painless resolution. The agentic AI doesn’t receive enough billing detail to be helpful, and the overseas call center has been trimmed so that customers spend more time on hold, making it harder to handle

I had the worst experience with this particular Hertz location. I returned the car at 645Am on SATURDAY November 29, before my rental return time of 700 and before the Hertz counter had opened. in fact, I was so early that there was both no Hertz agents in the parking lot for rentals/returns and no agents at the Hertz or any other car rental agency at SBA. As instructed on the signs, I placed the keys to the car and the rental agreement inside the terminal and dropped in the after hours box at the Hertz counter. I wrote on the rental agreement the time I returned it (actually parked car at 631 AM and have photos to prove it), I wrote Car space I returned car(#210-photos to prove this as well), provided a receipt from a gas station a mile a away showing the car was returned full (also ha

I was afraid to rent from this location based on other reviews. My experience however was great. The staff at the counter was friendly and helpful. Pick up and return were quick and easy. The car was great and drove well. No complaints. I would definitely rent from this Hertz again in the future.
