I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with my recent rental experience (Gold Member). My experience was unacceptable for the following reasons: 1. Pricing Issue: I had a confirmed reservation for $647.70. Upon arrival, the staff claimed it was "invalid" without prior notice and tried to force a new contract for $1109.25 (nearly double the price). I had to re-book myself for $685.80, losing my original 15% discount. 2. Gold Member Benefits Ignored: As a Gold member, I received no vehicle upgrade. 3. Vehicle Condition: The car provided was filthy. Furthermore, the dashboard displayed persistent maintenance alerts (Oil/Filter Change) every time I started the engine, which is a significant safety concern. More-so a review of the car, but I will also address the service at this location. I was quickly seen by a young man at the kiosk and had heard from the discussion before me that there were no more cars available. When I walked up to the counter, I was greeted well enough, told them when I had made my reservation and was quickly processed to receive the key and was on my way to the car. Once I got to the car, I started a video and surveyed the car, which appeared fine on the outside. the midatlantic has been having some winter weather so I expected some dust/salt. the interior was another story entirely. The drivers side floorboard not only didn't have floormats, but the interior carpet had a crater almost entirely through to the sheetmetal. The seats were stained as was the headliner. T
One of the worst experiences I’ve had in years. I can hardly believe that Hertz allows this to go on. Do not trust anything from Hertz and certainly this location. I reserved a car for some business appointments I had in DC. I had no car earlier in the week, as I was with a work colleague the first couple days. I was 100% dependent on getting this car to get to my appointments that day. I walked 25 minutes that morning to the address listed on my reservation. The office was closed but had signs on the door that said “use this door” that pointed at multiple doors without handles. Can’t make this up…I walked around the building and nobody in the building knew of a Hertz desk within the building. Absolutely appalling service. I made a reservation and showed up at 8:00 AM as scheduled, ready to pick up my vehicle. Hertz informed me they had no car available and could not honor my reservation. Let me be clear: I didn't cancel - THEY did by failing to have a vehicle for a confirmed reservation. What's the point of a reservation system if it means nothing? I arranged my entire trip around this pickup time, paid for train station parking, and planned accordingly. Instead of apologizing for their failure, they left me stranded. To make matters worse, Priceline tried to charge me as if I was the one who cancelled. I was physically at the counter, ready to rent. I made a reservation for a minivan for pick up in Christmas Eve. This reservation was made weeks prior. I arrived on time for the reservation and upon arrival was told there are no minivans available. How are there none available when I made a reservation and arrived on time. Now I have no car to use to travel to our family and this is on Christmas Eve. I understand many are traveling on this day but there has to be a better way of tracking your inventory and alerting people. Also if you know the holidays are the biggest time why not have more cars available to meet the demand. I am frustrated and disappointed. So is my family.
