Hertz Car Rental - Washington Dc - Washington Hilton

This place was so bad. We ordered a car with crossbars and a ski rack. They called the day prior to let us know they had to get it from another airport. We waited hours for the car to arrive and when it did, it didn’t have bars. Then they told me to go to another location. The other location also didn’t have it. This place will charge you for something they don’t have and then act surprised when you get upset. Their customer service is awful and on site staff has no clue.

Car was not the one I reserved and was filthy. Dirt, sand, trash and a moldy plate in the trunk. Dirty door interiors and sticky center console. Dirty visors and interior of windshield was difficult to see through because it had a film on it. The car smelled like the moldy plate and marijuana.

I see all the negative reviews here but I had a good experience. Staff were helpful and got my after hours return processed and saved me some $$. ***For those doing after hours returns: go to the Hilton Hotel parking garage, entrance on 19th St. Get a garage ticket and go down 1 level to P2. Find the spaces for Hertz, and then leave your keys in the box.

Had the pleasure of having some amazing service provided by my man Rolando! I had no complaints. The day was going horrible, given the wrong info and more… The good guys Rolando & Justin came to my rescue, corrected all mistakes, got my peeps & I in a vehicle and made it all make sense with great mannerisms! Great folks, thank you 😊 🙏🏽

TLDR: extremely overbooked - your car will probably be late, if there’s a car available for you at all. I would not rent from here (or Hertz for the matter) again under any circumstances. I arrived on time and waited THREE HOURS for a car, the whole time being told “there are more cars on the way and they’ll be here any minute”, but the cars never came and at 5pm they closed and told me and everyone else in line to go home and contact customer service for a refund…. on the day before Christmas Eve… leaving everyone to scramble and try and find a way home. The gentleman working the desk was friendly and wanted to help, but was clearly being given no information on the situation. Absolute crap shoot of an operation.
