I purchased this truck from someone that loyally went to Jim Norton Toyota for servicing. Not long after purchasing it from him the fuel pump went out. He was a ghast because Jim Norton had already replaced the fuel pump previously. This is a 2012 model. I took it to a different mechanic that charged me all over $900 to replace the fuel pump and they said it looks like it had been spliced back together. I have previously gotten two oil changes from Jim Norton and this time decided to go with a local mechanic. The local mechanic says it looks like the oil filter had not been changed in quite some time because of the thickness of the oil gunk by the filter housing. The filter housing was brittle enough that it broke when trying to loosen. I will never recommend Jim Norton services to anyone.
Disappointing experience overall. Read summary in the end if you don't want to go through the detailed review. I acknowledge my decision to opt for authorized service centers, foreseeing potential consequences. Visited Jim Norton Toyota Service due to AC issues in my car, expecting a possible low freon pressure or faulty flow sensor, estimating a repair cost of $500-$1000. Step 1: The team conducted a freon top-up for $170, but the AC still malfunctioned. Step 2: They identified a B1479 code indicating a faulty sensor, adding another $170 for diagnosis. Totaling $380 plus labor for both. I was quoted $1990 for AC repair (compressor and pulley replacement), along with additional recommendations like BG Fuel System Service, BG Brake Flush, BG Coolant Flush, and Spark Plugs, totaling $730
I’ve been a loyal Toyota tundra fan for over 20 years. I actually bought two Tundra Maxcab Limiteds and an FJ from Jim Norton since 2005. The service staff have always been 5 star and I’ve loyally had my vehicles serviced by Jim Norton in spite of a 90 mile round trip. But then a head gasket leaked antifreeze into two cylinders. I asked if the “LIFETIME “ engine warranty they talk about in the advertising covered it. The answer was no. It would cost $4500 to fix it. I drove home and the next day took it to another mechanic for a price on replacing the head gaskets. I decided to bite the bullet and pay the $4500. I called Jim Norton to schedule it and was told it would be 10 days before a loaner was available. I scheduled the service. Ten days later I took it in and jumped in loaner. When
BEWARE!!!! Jim Norton service likes to try to (scam) take advantage of those that may not know better when it comes to service. They love telling everyone they need an alignment and things don't pass inspection one time but magically pass the next. Only go for your "free maintenance" and find a reputable mechanic for the rest and change air filters, wipers and stuff yourself. Most auto parts stores will change for free not charge $80 for simple things. Edit: And even try to charge for stuff that's supposed to be covered. Edit: Added the generic alignment advisory report of my Exotic one of a kind 2001 Mazda Miata minivan 😂. And wander why we say we don't trust you...? Makes your multimillion dollar service center look like a joke.
Brakes were sqeeeking, took two trips to recognize that the rear breaks needed repair. The inspection cost $134 . To analyze the squeak. It was the 100,000 mile inspection they performed, but, didn't ask for it, took in on themselves. The items identified estimated to be $3100. Including finally the break kit. Parts were a delay. Settled only on three repairs at a cost of $1300. Too expensive and still not sure Toyota should price the warnings. We fixed only the repairs needed. Relaxed the wipers at a ridiculous cost of $40. I'll try local shops from now on.
