This past summer our tire blew in the park and we were able to make it to John’s on a donut. He checked out our tire and because he didn’t have the same tire he sent us to a nearby shop that did. He did that all FREE OF CHARGE. He was an extremely nice and professional man and would recommend his shop to anyone. Thank you, you were a real life saver that day!
I have had problems with several local businesses ripping me off or trying to rip me off. I was so thankful to find John's Auto Service at 3 Beech St in Millinocket, Maine! They do excellent work and charge reasonable prices. I drive over an hour to go there and get my Ford Expedition serviced!
I asked to fix a leaky tire on my truck. While investigating, it was noted that the front wheel wasn't turning freely. I asked how much it would cost to grease the caliper pins and was told that it would take about an hours worth of labor. Late the next day I got a vm stating that the truck was ready for pick-up. When I picked the truck up, the bill was over $450. The caliper and brake shoes and brake hose had been replaced. I didn't ask for that. At the very least, I should have received a phone call with the update that was necessary. I would have asked him put it back together and repaired it myself. On top of that, he couldn't produce the take-out parts. His response was that he was just trying to make a living. This is a small town. Stuff like that generally doesn't happen here.
I had all my brake system serviced at this shop about 4 months ago and paid around $1,500 for the job. Now my brakes have failed again. One wheel was completely covered in brake fluid, the brake pedal went soft and I almost lost my brakes on the road. Another mechanic has confirmed that the brake caliper is leaking and repairs are needed again. This is extremely dangerous and completely unacceptable after such expensive work done so recently. Brakes are a safety system — failures like this can put lives at risk. I’m very disappointed with the quality of work and would not recommend this shop to anyone. If you care about safety, go somewhere else.
Glad to have John and his shop available to us here in Millinocket as an option other option for his vehicle service. He and his son do a great job taking care of folks and getting them in when they need help. Definitely fair prices over a dealership! Highly recommend!
