If you want the straight dope about Main Street Auto listen up, I’m their third best customer. I’ve put well over 300,000 miles on vehicles since I started going to Main Street Auto. They have replaced wheel bearings (a lot), done brakes, a transmission, so many tires, replaced a radiator, water pump, and fixed a few more unique problems with aplomb. Some shops may do that sort of thing. They’ve stayed late to get my car fixed, towed me with no hassle, and made car problems a lot less stressful; most shops don’t trouble themselves that much to take care of the customer. That’s why I go there, never feel like I’m being taken advantage of or for granted (again I am their third best customer). My alternator quit working just outside Waterville NY while I was sightseeing along NY20 last month. These good folks rescued me from the roadside and, despite having three other vehicles in the queue at mid-day, managed to get me on my way by staying well past closing time. The first replacement part they installed was DOA and they sent a driver (actually, the owner himself) quite a distance to retrieve another. To my surprise the bill was not much more than what I would have paid for the part alone had I not ignored the symptoms and done the job myself. Kudos to these folks for great service. I can also recommend the nearby Mulligans restaurant for a quick lunch and to have a walk about the lovely Victorian village of Waterville while you wait.

I went to Alex with a list of needs expecting to get scheduled for an appointment the following week or maybe even further out. Alex installed new front brakes, four tires, and windshield wipers the next day. He's efficient and friendly!

On a long trip from Speculator, NY, heading through Binghamton and down to New Jersey, my car suddenly started bucking and the engine lights were flashing. Not exactly the kind of excitement you want on the road! Thankfully, I found Main Street Auto in Watertown, and it couldn’t have worked out better. Alex, who not only knows his stuff but also has a great sense of humor, quickly assessed the problem and had me — and my dog Gibbs — safely back on the road in no time. He turned what could have been a stressful situation into a smooth, reassuring experience. I told him if I made it home safely without further issues, I’d give him a 5-star review. Well, I did — and here it is! Highly recommend Main Street Auto for their professionalism, kindness, and fast service.

While traveling around New York for work, my rental car started to alert me of low tire pressure. I stopped in and Alex told me everything would be ok and topped off all four tires. The tire “code” went off and I was again at ease! LOL. The guy was Alex and he was so nice, didn’t charge me anything, told me to relax and safe travels. Such a nice young man, he and the business deserves a huge shout out! Thanks!!!!!
