I am very disappointed with the lack of transparency at Marks Auto Service in Rockford. After paying $2,416 for repairs, I received an invoice that does not clearly explain how labor charges were calculated. The bill lists lump-sum labor amounts without showing labor hours or the hourly rate. There is no detailed breakdown to justify how the final numbers were determined. When I asked for clarification and a proper itemized labor breakdown for my records, I was told that they do not provide that information. For a repair bill exceeding $2,000, refusing to disclose basic billing details is unacceptable. Very polite and honest staff here at Mark's. They do give loaner vehicles if you're in their shop so that helps avoid expensive rentals which ends up being super helpful in the long run with how expensive car repairs can be. They do most work in-house so you'll never get the annoying message where you need your car to go to a different bodyshop or what not. I really like how they give pictures and good explanations for each recommended repair. Also they give out really good coupons for oils changes and other minor work.

Friendly staff, honest, thorough. Went there for an oil change and to see if my brakes needed to be replaced. They were honest and said I didn't need brakes (yet). They also did a quick check on my car to recommend future maintenance.

These guys are great. They are friendly, professional, and honest. I needed new tires, an oil change, and potentially new brakes. Turns out my brakes were fine, they didn't even try to upsell me. I was able to get updates via text the entire time (great when you have a sleeping baby all day), and they were quick to get my car serviced and out the door. Affordable work as well. Thank you, guys!
