Mattingly's Auto Repair

I'm an ASE Certified mechanic and work on Automobiles Professionally everyday. My girlfriend was looking for a Lower Mileage Toyota in decent shape. I looked around and found Mattingly's had one with 109k. I went and talked to Ernie. He let me put it on one of his lifts and look at it to do my own inspection of the vehicle. From a mechanics stand point, he is very honest. The vehicle drives good and has no hitches. When ever you buy a vehicle if you aren't mechanically inclined I always will recommend at least bringing one or taking it to a mechanic to have them look it over. But Ernie is a pretty decent guy and isn't out to rip anyone off. He got my respect. It's not often you find a dealer that isn't out to get over on you. But Ernie is a good dude. Thanks man...

Ernie Mattingly sold us a Toyota Rav4. It has been a joy to drive. We had some grinding noise in the rear when braking & he installed new rear pads& rotors with the grind issue resolved. Honest, fair & reliable place to buy or service your next new to you vehicle. 5 star recommendation.

Great prices and the owner is incredibly nice and helpful! There's always a large selection of cars for great prices and this is a great place to go, especially for people that live in Troy and surrounding areas because there's not anywhere else that's even close to this decent for miles and miles around. Also, their new location allows even more vehicles and greater selection which is really helpful when you're looking for a particular type of car or truck. He now has a location across the road from Troy general store and the selection is amazing!

If I could leave zero stars, I would! The owner was initially friendly, the car was reasonable, but the end result is unacceptable! Ernie sold our college-age son a 2007 Impala with a basically dead battery, and 1.5 months later it blew a head gasket. When we called him, hoping he'd help with the expense of replacing them, he refused, accusing us of running the car with no coolant. He also accused our mechanic of being an idiot and passed the buck at every turn. We will NEVER do business with Mattingly's again and encourage everyone to share this review, so they're not a victim of his fraud.
