We were traveling from Shreveport, LA to Caprock Canyon, TX (8+ hour drive) and our battery light came on. A parts store was in sight so we pulled in and had the battery and alternator checked and was told we needed to get to a repair shop ASAP because the alternator was in horrible condition (and by the time we made it to Nocona Muffler, it had died completely). Luckily Nocona Muffler was less than half a mile down the road. It was late afternoon (around 3:30pm) so there wasn't anything we could really do that day, especially because our Dodge Caliber is a nightmare to work on engine-wise.
