NU Car Rental

Worst experience I’ve ever had. They use these cars for turo also, so when i arrived to the location there was a line out the door. They have no idea if they have cars in lot ready or not. They legit have to walk to lot because they don’t keep a good inventory. You’d think you’d have a board with keys on it at minimum to know if cars are available, if your business doesn’t use technology. To make matters worse finally get a car, and then a few days into the the trip came off beach to car missing. The car ended up getting impounded for expired registrations. I am still on side of the road, as they have not contacted me back after calling, emailing, texting, calling corporate and credit card. Very pathetic. Still fighting for refunds but nobody picks up the phone or answers emails.

I booked a car with New Car Rental well in advance for my December 11–15 birthday weekend trip from Sacramento to San Diego. I specifically chose a small economy car (two-door, Chevy Spark–type) because parking in San Diego is extremely difficult and expensive. I packed very light on purpose so I could manage with a smaller vehicle. At the counter, I confirmed with the employee that I would be receiving the small car I reserved. He said yes, and I even signed on the pad explicitly rejecting any upgrade. When I went out to the lot, the car provided was a larger Nissan midsize sedan. To start off, you need to take two shuttles to get to the NU Car rental place. First thing I notice when i get in my vehicle is that it needs gas, now i have to stop and fuel up, that was so inconvenient. Then to top that off, I rented a vehicle on January 29, 2026 and they gave me a vehicle with expired tags since July 2025. I got pulled over 3 time, that wasn't fun at all. I would not recommend this place at all. Go with a name brand rental place. I wish there was a no star rating cause one star rating is to many for this place.

Started our vacation trying to get a hold of this place for a shuttle. Bunch of phone numbers but many are just recycling robots. Press 1, press 2, etc. Them when we get there, we wait in line for a good half hour only to get to the counter and have them tell us they didn't have a car for us. We had to go to a reputable car rental to get a car at 3 times the expense. Beware! Do not go to this car rental. They are horrible!

Nope! Horrible car rental agency. My bf got lured in by a shiny deal for $10 a day, but that’s only if you drive 50 miles a day. So he had to get unlimited which put the daily rental rate higher and he would’ve been better off renting at the airport. The hold on your credit card is $400, which is insane. We see the car rental outside a Nissan Kick that from a distance it looked good, but once we got to close, it had a bumper accident in the front and a dent in the back door. It was also not washed or vacuumed in the interior. Who rents a car like that to someone??? I asked if that was the only car they had available and they said yeah. That should absolutely not be in a fleet of rental cars and that’s when I knew that this car rental agency was no good. My BF still went ahead and used that
