Overall Automotive

Recently we took our car to Overall Automotive in Poplar Grove for an oil change and tire rotation.  They seemed very nice.  Several days later we drove the car 200 miles to central Illinois.  We stopped about half way to get gas.  But upon arriving at the town of our destination, the car started smelling like burning oil.  When we pulled off the road, checked the oil, it was empty.  We had the car towed to a local automotive repair shop and they said the gasket on the oil filter was incorrectly installed.  After showing the diagnosis from the repair shop to three other qualified mechanics they all confirmed, the gasket was in the incorrect place. Overall Automotive has worked on 2 of my vehicles a few times over the years, and service was great and parts were fixed well and timely. However, I recently brought my vehicle in because something was misfiring with the transmission or possibly a bad belt. The rpms were shooting up when hardly accelerating and there was a whining noise under the hood. Overall Auto looked at it, drove it, and told me nothing was wrong. The sound I hear is the transmission pump wear and tear because of the age/mileage of my vehicle. He said that most trucks’ transmissions just sound like that when their mileage gets up there (138,000). The belts all look good, no cracks. He told me it’s all good, and sent me on my way. Very unwelcoming. Lazy. And non costumer centric. They just seemed like they didn’t want to talk to me. Tried to buy coolant and they didn’t even tell me if I had the right one. Got an I don’t know. I would not recommend going to these guys they seem unknowledgeable and and seem to care more about getting on with their weekend, instead of helping me when I was really in trouble. Highly unrecommended.

These guys are awesome. I blew a tire and needed two new ones put on, they were able to get me in and out in less than an hour. They were honest about what the car needed and charged a good price for the labor etc. Definitely recommend them.

They damaged another part on the car when replacing something else in that same area. When brought to their attention they denied it all. I understand accidents happen but own up to it now left paying another shop to fix what they damaged.
