Payless Car Rental

In July 2025, I went to Birmingham Alabama to bury a relative. I purchased a rental to working advantage. I picked my car up at Payless rental at Birmingham airport. They said they needed A credit card but no charge will be placed because the car was prepaid prior to coming. They placed a charge of $418 on my card. I have spoken to The multiple times and yet I have not yet received my refund for the charge that never should’ve taken place. The service is poor and apparently they’re scamming customers. Beware, do not use this company

Does not accept my credit or debit card. Types of accepted payments should be posted. I wasted my time and money for insurance and that day I walked thinking I would drive away after booking a car rental. My truck is in for repairs and I really wanted to visit my daughter on Christmas. Thanks for nothing. I definitely will not bother again.

My experience with Payless Car Rental is a nightmare. I purchased roadside assistance and collision insurance at time of purchase. On May 23 I was getting ready to return the 12-passenger van and noted there was a flat tire on the front passenger side. Today is May 26, 2022 and the van is still outside my home blocking mailboxes of my neighbors. I have been told services were enroute that never showed up. Why should a customer in good faith pay for services they do not receive, plus they are trying to charge my credit card because the van is not returned. By the way, no one has contacted me from Payless Car Rental or the roadside assistance since May 24. I have had the runaround with these people going on 3 days. If I could give 0 stars I would. I will never ever use this car rental company again. Used One Key Cash for a car rental that paid for the whole thing. Now they are wanting to charge me for it and also a late fee AND gas fee. Rental wasn't due for return until 8 pm. We returned the car around 5:30 p.m and also filled the car back up with gas at a gas station that wasn't even a mile from the airport!!! Everyone do yourselves a favor and book with anyone but Payless. We have never had any issues with renting a vehicle from any other company. Payless sucks and that's all there is to it.

Yikes. Neither their local phone number nor their 1-800 number work. Expedia also can’t reach them! The Expedia representative had to leave them a voicemail while she had me on hold. Planning to cancel since these people are this unreliable. I’m trying to stay ahead of a bad middle of night travel situation. I wanted to make them aware of my 11:20pm flight arrival next week so I won’t be abandoned with no car. I’m spooked that these people are unreachable! Beware.
